Registry items

So, I'll start by saying that I understand that no one is required to buy us gifts off of our registry. However, I'm a little bummed and confused, as we invited about 240 people to the wedding and only 40ish gifts have been purchased. The wedding is 19 days away. We don't live together so we are starting from scratch to make our home. We live in the south, and go to a baptist church, and typically people buy you wedding gifts in those circles, and I've already had both of my showers. Do people bring gifts to the wedding? I was told by numerous people that I did not have enough on our registry and that we needed to add more since people will be buying off of it, and now I just feel dumb. Haha any thoughts? I KNOW they don't HAVE to buy us wedding gifts, it's just rather odd where I'm from.

Did anyone host a bridal shower for you? Usually that's where gifts are given. I know people can bring gifts to a wedding, but I've personally never to been to a wedding where someone brought a physical gift.

You may get gifts sent to your home after the wedding. No need to be upset. You'll probably get a completion discount and can buy the items yourself.

Some people may buy gifts after as well? I read to leave your registry up a few months after your wedding, just in case.

Yes I had two and that's where most of the 40ish gifts were given:/ the first one was small and I got like 3 gifts from it. Towels and baking pans etc. I did get a few cards with 15-25$ gift cards in them. Which will help a bit to buy bedding.

19 days is still long enough away. I don't usually buy gifts until the week before or so. I usually just take money to weddings because I don't personally like bringing actual presents to weddings. But if you had/have a bridal shower that's where most gifts are given!

People may also give cash at the wedding in a card so you can buy the stuff you don't get off the registry

I would think most people like to wait until the last minute esp during this time of year

A lot of times, people will wait until the day before or day of to purchase a gift. I know I've bought gifts the day before a shower in the past. Also, lots of people tend to give a physical gift for showers and a card with a monetary gift at weddings. And, like PPs pointed out, sometimes guests don't get around to order a gift before the wedding, and you'll receive it after the wedding. We sporadically received a few gifts in the couple of months following our wedding.

Another thought...You said you invited 240 guests, but did all of them RSVP that they are coming? Sometimes people choose to send a gift if they decline a wedding invitation, but there are also plenty of people who don't send a gift if they RSVP no.

We got so many gifts while we were away on our honeymoon. Thankfully I had a cat sitter that came by daily and brought them in. It's close enough but far enough away that they have plenty of time to buy for you.

I’ve gone to weddings where I ordered my gift to be sent to their house when I was sitting at the reception. Don’t stress. A lot of people give cash for weddings too.
