Registry in save the date :(

Isabel, on January 12, 2022 at 11:39 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 6
I made a mistake by not asking the right people AND looking at a friends save the date from last year AND not doing my research, so I did put our wedding registry on the save the dates unfortunately… so I guess my question is, is there a way to salvage that mistake?!? Smiley sad(( I hate that it’s frowned upon and I did it! So mad at myself!

If you've already sent them out, just eat crow and hold your head up high. Be honest about it but don't track down everyone and explain what happened. This is a minor thing. Don't sweat it. Smiley smile

Honestly, in practical circles, no one really cares. Just because the wedding industry calls it a no-no doesn't mean your friends and family will know that! Don't worry. It's done and that's okay. I'm sure if anyone fusses it will only be the stuffy old aunt who's been complaining about tradition for years, and even if that happens, that's no sweat on you.

Where I am from (Australia) the majority of us actually really appreciate guidance as to what to gift the couple (whether it be a monetary gift as a wishing well, a physical gift from a registry) and it is really common for invitation suites to include a note on gifts so personally, even though it is a bit unusual to see it in a save the date, I wouldn't myself batt an eyelid.

With that said, even if your crowd aren't too fond of such information being shared, there really is nothing you can do anyway save for brush it off your shoulder and move on with the wedding planning. It may irk you a little but don't sweat the small stuff you can't change Smiley smile

You can’t change it now, so don’t let it bother you. It is an etiquette no no but not the end of the world! Focus on having a great wedding and hosting everyone well.

Don't stress too much about it! Honestly some people won't even notice I'm sure. And if someone says something, just apologize and move forward. I truly don't think it's that big a deal.
