Redesign dress

Hailey, on January 21, 2021 at 5:28 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 5
I decided to go back to school instead of finish planning the wedding. Now that school is nearly over we are starting to plan again. A few years ago I was pressured into buying a dress I don’t love. Some parts of the dress I like but others I hate. Is it worth it to have a seamstress redesign my current dress or should I just purchase a new one?

It's definitely worth an appointment with a seamstress! Explain to them what you like and don't like with the dress, and what you're hoping to change. They should be able to give you a price quote, and you can decide from there whether it's worth it to do the alterations, or if you'd rather just buy a new dress.

I agree with PP- it might be worth just getting someone to look at it to see how much it could be to get it the way you want.

Yes. As pp mentioned, get a free quote before buying a new dress, unless the dress you have in mind is a totally different than the dress you have.

I agree! I'd make an appointment with a seamstress and show them what you like about the dress and what you want to change to see if it's feasible!! (And how much it would cost!)

What types of details do you want to change?

The dress is a fit and flare which I typically like but I don’t like where the flare hits. So I’d like to raise the waist line and deepen the sweetheart neckline. I still like the back but the front of the dress is not it.
