Red dirt father daughter dance

Reeves, on July 20, 2017 at 4:09 PM Posted in Planning 0 18

My dad isn't the "mushy" kind to dance to cute lovey songs. He actually doesn't dance at all. He doesn't like new country songs and only listens to red dirt music (people like Willie Nelson, Casey donahew, cross Canadian ragweed, Jason Boland, ect...) so I'm trying to come up with a song that is meaningful and appropriate. Asking him isn't an option at this point because he suggested a snoop dogg/Willie Nelson song and I couldn't tell if he was joking or not lol (it was not appropriate at all!) Any suggestions??

I seriously love red dirt country and it's so nice to see someone else who actually knows what that is! Haha I personally love Cody Johnson, Turnpike Troubadours, Stoney Larue, and Aaron Watson. I can't think of any songs off the top of my head that would be good for a father/daughter dance but some of those artists may have some!

We love those artists too! But as far as an appropriate father daughter dance goes, we haven't heard any that we can think of Smiley sad

This probably doesn't qualify as Red Dirt (I'm not exactly sure what that is), but if you are looking for older country Holly Dunn has a song called "Daddy's Hands" that is one of my favs.

Alan Jackson Drive was one of my top pics. I don't know what red dirt country is but it's a VERY country song and not new. If your dad taught you to drive it may be a good one.

I'll also add that he is my step dad who has raised me since I was two. My parents have both passed away. But he's always been Dad Of course!

Listen to Rainbow Connection, version by Willie Nelson. I am so in love with this version. The song doesn't really begin until the 2 minute mark in this video. https://youtu.be/deebKNI-dTE

It doesnt have to be "father/daughter" themed. My dad and I are music fanatics but with different genres and decades. I don't have a very good relationship with him due to alcohol and I don't have all thise gushy feelings and father daughter bonds because of it. However, because of our obsession with music, I remember him listening to The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band when I was 4 and they had a song about Pooh. I was always afraid of our basement so I remember him taking me downstairs, where his music was, then giving me his big headphones and playing that CD and my favoeite was the Pooh song but I can still sing all the others. So that's what we will be dancing to, no one will get it, and I want it to be a surprise for him. But with all the tension and bad feelings I have towards him, its a song from a time where that didnt exist. Probably my best idea so far for the wedding, lets just hope he doesnt ruin it.

Awe well that's a sweet gesture from u to him. My dad and I have never really had that. He's only ever wore a tux once in his life and this will be the second time. So I'm trying to make this special for us too.
