Red bridesmaid dresses and skin tone

C, on February 1, 2021 at 12:17 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 8

Do I match bridesmaid dress color to my skin tone or my bridesmaids'? I love Azazie cabernet color since I'm getting married at a winery in fall. I have pretty red toned skin, but my girls would all look great in the cabernet color. Would red look bad in pictures since my skin tone is redder? I'm hoping it won't matter since I'm not wearing the dress?

I think this is completely up to you and your personal preference. If you like that color, then I would go with that!

Is there a way that you can get a fabric swatch of that color? If so, you could do that and hold it up to your face to see how it photographs with your skins tone. Though I don't think it will make a huge difference since you won't actually be wearing it!

Since you won’t be wearing it I think you will be ok. The color sounds beautiful for a winery wedding.

I think it will look fine. My bridesmaids, maid of honor and groomswoman all wore fire engine red dresses and I think they looked beautiful and I don't think it made me look red at all. If you are that concerned look up examples online.

I think it would look fine! If you have someone you can use as a model, order a sample for $10 and have them stand next to you to get an idea of how it would look.

I think it will look fine as long as it goes with their skin tone

Match the dresses to the girls who will be wearing them. Some colors do not work on most people. The same way white makes some look sickly, certain colors (shades of red, orange, yellow, etc) are not flattering on others.

I think it’ll look great but I’d also do what Melanie suggested & order a swatch.

Red is a beautiful tone for most and a deep Cabernet will give everyone a nice blushing glow. Stay away from red uplighting though because it makes people look flushed in pictures
