Recommendations for where to get shoes dyed

J&R, on August 12, 2011 at 8:54 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 9

I think I *finally* found my wedding shoes! They are satin and need to be dyed *with fabric protection* so that it all ends up the right shade of off-white to match "natural white" silk. Has anyone gone to a chain or online store and been especially happy with this? I have no idea where to take these shoes...

Payless dyes shoes but I dont know if they dye ones you've bought somewhere else. It's cheap, like $40 range

David's Bridal will dye shoes in their colors, even if you didn't purchase them there.

Many shoe repair places will dye them as well. Just make sure they seal them! Otherwise, the color bleeds.

Thanks! I'm in the DC area, but just got a recommendation for a place up in Bethesda. Price is good, but they have to look at the shoe before telling me whether the can do the fabric protection. I'll be walking across grass, and I don't want grass stains on the satin. But if I do the fabric protection myself after they dye them, it will make them darker and they won't match anymore. Not a huge deal, but if I'm paying for them to match, they should match!

Be careful with David's Bridal. We had a bad experience with the dying there. It was very badly done and it ran with just drops of water.

I went to David's Bridal last night and they said that they only dye their own shoes.
