Recipe Bridal Shower

lauren, on May 23, 2013 at 6:50 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 5

So I am helping my MOH/sister and Mom with my bridal shower invitations. (Since it is 12 hours away where most of our family is it is difficult to keep it a surprise so we figured we could get more done with all of us helping)

They want to send out recipe cards so that all the ladies can bring their favorite recipe to put into a book for me, but we are having a hard time coming up with a way to word it is the invitation. The party is 50's themed and we would appreciate any help!!

This is the poem we used for the recipe card for my shower:

Kara will soon take on many positions:

Wife, best friend, head chef of her kitchen!

Enclosed is a card, but it's not to keep.

Please fill it with your favorite recipe!

We'll present them to the bride to be, in hope to impart

recipes that warm not just bellies - but the heart.

I did this for my best friend's shower last month, and to be completely honest I didn't even write anything about them. I just stuck them in, and then I was like 'oh shoot, why didn't I put anything on the invite?' and you know what, they still almost all brought them back. I don't think you need to go to crazy, although Kara's poem is really cute!

We did this at the bottom of daughters wedding rsvp. Asked them to send it back with a recipe on the back. Some have some have not.

Here is one I found that is short and sweet:

“I hope you will write on this lovely card

Your favorite recipe, it shouldn’t be too hard

Lauren will want to try your delicious cake

Or anything else you love to make”
