Recessional Music

Courtney, on April 2, 2018 at 6:16 AM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 8
I ended up choosing a piano version of the song “I Swear”. It’s by John Michael Montgomery. I showed it to FMIL, and she thought I was crazy because it’s “slow”. She says the recessional music is supposed to be super upbeat, but I’ve had a heck of a time finding one that we like. - we are more into country music, and this song is beautiful and really fits with how we feel about each other as a couple. We don’t have many more options than a piano cause we’re getting married in a old church.

So... am I crazy? lol.

You can obviously choose whatever you want but the recessional is usually an upbeat celebratory song. Ours will be a country song as well we are still trying to narrow it down though.

I agree with FMIL kind of odd choice for a recessional. It's your ceremony so if it's really what you want go for it. If you have to use a piano how set are you on the song being a country song? There are plenty of classical upbeat songs that would make a great choice on a piano.

I say go with what you want. We are doing Tim McGraw's Shotgun rider.

So, you'll be walking out a little slower? Sharing meaningful looks and shaking hands rather than rushing out? We're doing something more traditional (well, as traditional as the end title music for Star Wars can be) but I absolutely see the draw in choosing something with a slower pace.

The processional is going to be very traditional (canon in d). So we thought of doing a country song. It’s originally a piano that goes with the song.

That’s exactly what I’m going for there.. I don’t wanna run out. I wanna just slowly walk out and kinda take in the moment.

I agree with the upbeat thing. You just have been announced as Mr and Mrs so it is just an exciting time! However if you like the song you picked then go with it! Weddings don’t all have to be the same and if you want a minute to walk down and take everything in then do that! 😊

    Hi Courtney,

I like that song and think it surely fits for the recessional! It is ultimately your choice.
