Reception

Brittany, on September 15, 2019 at 9:24 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 7
Hi ,need opinions on my reception .Me and fiance finally made a decision on our wedding . We is having a small intimate 40 to 50 people church wedding May 2020 and going to dinner after instead of a big lavish expensive wedding. Would it be wrong for us to have our guest pay for their own food at the restaurant? Me and fiance is trying to save for honeymoon.

Yes, that would be wrong. Even if it’s just a dinner, you need to host your guests. Only invite the number of people you can afford to pay for.

Yes it would be rude to have guests pay for their own meal. If your ceremony is during a non meal time you can have a cake and punch reception afterwards which would be cheaper.

Yes, it’s rude. Do an app only reception, or cake & punch, but do something that doesn’t involve your guests buying their own food.

I agree. Having a cake and punch reception at a non-meal time is a cheaper alternative!

Yes, that would be wrong. Weddings and honeymoons are both luxuries. If you can’t afford either of them, skip them. Inviting people to your wedding means that you should host them, that’s a higher priority than your vacation.

Yes that’s considered rude to ask them to pay for part of your wedding day. If you can’t afford to host anyone I would recommend this eloping or planning a small cake and punch reception (paid for by you two) during a non-meal time.
