UPDATE - Our reception is over! We had about 20-25 of the 80 RSVP's show up, and a handful of those were kids lol
Ultimately we wasted alot of money, but we enjoyed the crowd that did show. Hair, makeup, and photography were great! Nothing else went to plan really.
Our DJ was a no show, so there was no music, no first dance, no one to facilitate the "schedule". My center pieces were not what I imagined because I didn't get my waterbeads. I spent $200 on masks for everyone that RSVP'd, so needless to say most of them didn't get used because people decided not to show.
I did enjoy being able to talk to everyone there, and the laxed schedule. But I will never plan another event ever again! I consider it an epic fail, especially because in our original plans, we had a family pre-wedding dinner planned at Mary Macs Tea room in ATL that fed about 20 people for $900. That was a small fraction of what we spent for the actual reception if self, just for the same headcount to show up.
Also most of the RSVP'S that didn't show have not reached out about gifts or even sending a card.
