Reception suggestions in Nj/pa

Jess, on November 10, 2018 at 6:36 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 6

Hey everyone! My fiancé and I are newly engaged (10/31/18)! We're planning on eloping, just the 2 of us, maybe Dec 2019 or early Jan/Feb 2020 either somewhere local or city hall. We would like to have a party to celebrate about 1-2 months from our elopement date.

My bigger concern is looking for a nice restaurant or venue of some sort that can hold around 50 guests to have our reception in. I want this to be an intimate and cozy feel (will be in the winter), and also have space for a small 3-piece band to play. We're going to be touring Yards Brewery in Philly in a few weeks, but are looking for some other suggestions as well. We live in Mercer County/Central NJ and would be fine with a commute of 45min-1hr for our reception. We are a simple, non-traditional couple with a small budget.

What does a small budget mean to you?

For the reception at a restaurant/venue I'm figuring and comfortable with around $5,000 budget for about 50 people.

Hi Jess!! Welcome to WeddingWire!! Smiley ring If you haven't already, I would definitely look through the New Jersey restaurant venues in the WeddingWire vendor directory. There are reviews from newlyweds that used them as their venue and some of the pages have an estimate machine where you put in your information and it'll give you a quote of how much it might cost. And since you're technically have only the reception, it should be a little more affordable.

I would check out the FAQs sections of any venues that you're interested in because some of the restaurants have a higher minimum number of guests. Smiley smile

If you're having a three-piece band, will you also be having a first dance and parent dances?

    Hi Jess,

Have you looked at Waterloo Village in Stanhope, NJ? I know its a little more north of you but they are able to accommodate both large and small parties. All their food is provided by Jeffrey A. Miller catering which is master chefs creating farm-to-table dishes and I can tell you first hand the food is amazing. I will be getting married there this September and although we are having a large party they are able to offer smaller gatherings for a brunch or what not. They are very accommodating and friendly to work with. They have some open houses coming up if you wanted to check out the space and ask them any questions you may have. Maria and her team there are super helpful and wonderful.
