I'm in the early stages of planning and have requested pricing from what feels like every venue in the Philly/South Jersey area. I am trying to keep my catering/venue/bar costs on or below $10,000.00 for about 75 people and am considering doing heavy passed hor d'oeuvres in lieu of a sit down dinner, more for stylistic reasons than monetary ones. I think my budget could accommodate a dinner or the hor d'oeuvres style reception given the small guest list, but since I'm asking for advice, I figured I'd give full disclosure.
I realize this might change the timing of the reception and I am fine with doing an afternoon wedding. I brought this up to FH last night and he does not care either way.
Has anyone been do this type of reception, and if so, what are your thoughts? I'm really just trying to feel out some options at this point.
