This has probably been asked, however, I’m gonna ask again. We are doing gourmet pizza for our wedding reception. We will also have a salad bar, pinwheels, and a variety of pasta salads. Myself and the groom love pizza. My mom is vehemently opposed. She thinks it’s tacky. I would agree if I were just throwing out some dominos. However, these aren’t your traditional pizzas. Some include crawfish tails, shrimp, pimento cheese, bbq chicken, a few vegetarian options. It is a 4:30 ceremony with reception to follow. Thoughts?

I’m all about some good pizza! I think it’s a great idea. You’re not just slapping boxes of Papa Johns down. You’re putting a lot of thought into it.

I think it's super casual, but if your wedding is super casual I think that's fine. I'd do your best to keep the pasta hot until guests eat it.

I think if your mom is helping pay, you should consider her opinion on the food. If not - do whatever you want. I would love to attend a wedding with good pizza!

I say do you. If you & the groom want pizza then pizza it should be. Most people are opposed to things that are non conventional but if it makes you happy and you know wont regret it then go for it.

Honestly FH narrowed our choices down to pizza or a mac and cheese bar. Ultimately we decided to do a mac and cheese bar because we felt like too many people like too many different types of pizza and we didn't know how to choose. Its your wedding, serve the food you want to!

It’s an outdoor venue in a barn. The venue is super casual.

They are covering half of the food bill. Everything else is on us.

Then I personally think you need to find a compromise with your mom. If this is literally the only part of the wedding she's helping pay for, i I think it's fair that the food served be something she is comfortable with. Maybe say you're definitely doing pizza, but else could you add that would make her feel more ok about it? It could be nice salads, adding pasta dishes and a meat entree, etc. I don't think you have to give up on pizza (and I would definitely be on board!!!!) but I think it's important that your mom be ok with it too.

Then I think that's fine since that is the vibe you are going for anyway!

I have seeing it for cocktail hour but never for reception dinner but I’ll love pizza anywhere I can take it! I think is creative, fun and there’s options for all. I mean who doesn’t like pizza?

We were going to go with gourmet pizza! Literally the only reason we didn’t was because the other catering company offered way more for the same price and I was worried about who was going to get the pizza to us (we live and are getting married in the middle of nowhere) and how we were going to keep it warm.

OMG. I'm so jealous. I only wish I could have a pizza reception. Mom's will always find something wrong. My mom thinks it's tacky that I'm having a buffet instead of a plated dinner.

Enjoy your reception and have two extra slices for me.

Awesome! We had a brunch reception that included breakfast pizzas. One was wild blackberry and goat cheese! Sooooo good.

That's so fun! Go with it. Your day, your choice. You can also decorate the table so it looks beautiful with the pizzas on pretty stands and arrangements around them with pretty signs. Your guests are there to witness your union so who cares what is served. At least they're getting fed and a lot by the sounds of it.
