Reception Packages

Erika, on November 21, 2019 at 11:30 AM Posted in Planning 0 10

My FH & I decided we do not want plated dinner we want to give our guests more options that just chicken or beef.

Our venue has a Buffet package that includes everything we want however since our guest list keeps growing we are trying to find a way to cut down a little bit on the per head price.

How did you compare options and what did you pick that worked with your budget? Buffet Package or Buffet A La Carte?

I would ask your venue how much leeway you have with this. for instance with my venue, everything is served in family style courses and it's minimum ten courses but i tried to bring it down to 9 or 8 and they wouldn't let me ahah. so i would ask your venue how much flexibility you can have, such as creating your own menu where you can add in however much and there not be a minimum or if you absolutely have to do a package

Depending on the length of your guest list, I'd recommend going with a plated dinner to make sure everyone gets fed in a timely manner. I recently went to a wedding that had a buffet style dinner and we didn't eat for an hour after waiting for the ceremony starting an hour late and a minimalistic cocktail hour. The guests were hangry - I certainly was lol. Good luck!

Is the bar price included with the buffet? You could always go to a beer and wine bar as opposed to a full bar to save on per head costs!

I don't think we will exceed 100. Our cocktail hour will have passed and display Hors d'Oeuvres so they won't be too hungry when reception starts.

I've been to both buffet and plated. At the end of the plated dinner reception we were starving. 🤷🏻‍♀️

That is awesome!! Well, my suggestion becomes a bit obsolete now then haha! The only other suggestion I would have would be to cut some guests if you can, that is the only sure way to bring costs down!
