So are you legally getting married? Having a private JOP? I'm confused on that part lol. Definitely heard of people having receptions without a ceremony. Normally for the people I know of it was after the regular ceremony and reception in a different location for people who were unable to attend. I'd say plan it like a regular reception! Lots of good food, music (DJ), and all the rest! Invite people and call it a marriage celebration! Sounds fun Smiley smile congratulations

We would already be legally married yes and the reception would just be all the family and friends celebrating us it would be less stressful for me because I'm not hiring a planner I'm doing it by myself and it would make the day more fun and relaxing for all the quests

I'd say go look at the other thread about this.....it has about 50659 posts on it.

I don't know that doing it that way would make it any less stressful honestly.

Please tell me you're not cooking...

I find planning the reception much more stressful than the ceremony.....

You can do this however you want. But how is this route less stressful? An elopement might be a better option.

Yeah the reception is a lot harder to plan, just an FYI.

The reception is the stressful part. The ceremony is the least of your worries! lol

Not sure what you have booked already but ours was super easy and simple. We chose a venue where we could have both the ceremony and reception, got an officiant (they take care of most of the logistics of the ceremony), bought very minimal decor (venue provided chairs) and done!

And to clarify, I'm not trying to sway your plans. If that's what you really want, then go for it. I just don't think it's that hard to plan both at the same time if that's what you're worried about.

Thank you I'm just toying with the idea. The venue that I'm looking into has a ceremony area included in the rental so if we choose that venue(it has an area that is specifically for ceremony and an area for reception) then ill be doing the ceremony. Thank you for your helpful comment MMB I greatly appreciate it.

I think it is essentially the same other than that you wouldn't call it a wedding.
