I’m planning my wedding and finally found a caterer I love. We planned out the menu as follows: Happy Hour - spinach artichoke dip with bread and fresh fruit platter with dip. Dinner - citrus herb baked bone-in chicken thighs, bbq pulled pork sliders, mac and cheese, mashed potatoes, salad, and rolls.

I was pretty jazzed about the menu until a few people I asked said they didn’t like chicken thighs. I thought it was a better option than chicken breasts because those can dry out easily if cooked and then left in a warming tray (at least that’s my understanding).
If you went to a wedding where bone-in thigh was an option, would you not even eat it? I don’t want to have most guests pass over the chicken and run out of bbq pork or just not enjoy the chicken at all.
I am set on having a chicken option for guests who don’t eat pork. I also want a chicken entree that’s cohesive with the rest of our meal (example: I don’t think teriyaki chicken skewers would flow with the rest of the meal, ya know?)
Am I over thinking it? Do people really care that much? I haven’t been to many weddings where the food was extraordinary and I don’t want to give myself an ulcer over one meal in a persons life. Any thoughts or advice you could give would be so helpful!

If you want the menu to be cohesive, I would just have bbq chicken and bbq pork... That way it's pork free, but still bbq! ^-^

I would pass it up but that’s just me. It’s why I’m doing a buffet. That way I can have a ton of options for everyone during cocktail hour and for dinner

Haha ya know, that’s not a bad idea! I might ask my caterer if they can throw some chicken breast in there too.

Most people who will eat thighs will also eat white meat, but not vice versa. I’m guessing that’s why white meat is usually served at weddings. (Out of my entire family, my fiancé is the only one who eats dark meat!)
