Reception Meal/menu - How Did You Decide??

Otherwise, I like your thinking: there will be plenty of other great restaurants nearby just in case!

We did plated family style. So guests could have as many tacos as they wanted, along with our side items. My favorite side was our edamame quinoa salad!

We knew we wanted a plated meal so we chose that first. We also knew we wanted a beef and a fish option, as the chicken we've had at weddings has been mediocre and dry. Our venue hosted a tasting event where we could taste different apps, salads and we ultimately chose a menu that reflected local and seasonal flavors (June wedding, New England coast) - we ended up with the following which I think is a good variety of tasty options:

Cocktail hour: artisan cheese board with seasonal fruit and crackers, bacon-wrapped scallops, mini grilled cheese and tomato soup shooter, crostini with roast beef and horseradish

Salad: deconstructed caesar salad

Dinner options: herb-crusted sirloin or baked haddock, with smoked gouda au gratin potatoes and asparagus, seasonal vegetable lasagna as vegetarian option

Dessert: lemon infused wedding cake with raspberry preserves

Late Night: our venue was super cool in that it had a "fire pit" feature for end-of-night, where the remaining guests go outside onto a beach and roast marshmallows and have s'mores. So we did this as well!

And I love the flavor combination you chose for your dessert, I always think lemon and raspberry go together well. My fiance and I are also doing a smores bar at our wedding, since our venue has an indoor/outdoor fire pit. How did it turn out for you? Did many of your guests do smores?

We had about half the guests stay for the fire pit s'mores, as it went an hour later than the reception ended!
