Reception food

Sarah, on December 29, 2019 at 1:01 PM Posted in Planning 0 10
What is everyone serving as food at your reception? My fiancé is thinking we serve pizza, since their is a pizza place that will cater it. I was thinking about just using the reception halls catering service. Any advice?

Ours was very formal so we had Caesar salad, turkey, prime rib, mashed potatoes, penne pasta, tortellini, Alfredo sauce, vodka sauce, and grilled veggies. We also had a candy bar. Wedding cake as dessert. We had a nacho bar for a late night snack.

We only have the hotel’s catering as an option. So we’re having tray passed and also a station of appetizers during cocktail hour. Then dinner will be soup/salad, rolls and plated meal options of either chicken, beef or salmon with sides (selected when RSVP’ing)

I think it depends on how formal of a wedding you're having. We had a more formal wedding, so we had a plated dinner with an appetizer, a salad, and then an entree (chicken, salmon, or prime rib). If it's a more casual wedding, then pizza should be good. Also, you can maybe even use the same restaurant but not the pizza. I know most of the pizza places around me have amazing Italian food other than pizza as well.

This is a know your crowd and your vibe situation. If it is a more casual wedding and less formal group, pizza is probably a great option. If you are looking for something more formal (or your guests would be looking for something more formal), catering might be better... also depends on your budget; if you are looking to save where you can, pizza may be more affordable.

We are having a more formal meal. We will be having appetizers, to be determined still. Then a served salad. Then a buffet with chicken picata, roast beef and gravy, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans and rolls. Then doing a late night snack of a s'mores bar.

We are doing a post elopement celebration but even if having a reception I was going to do a pizza buffet. Look it up as you can make it look nice. You just need to feed people so does not need to be hugely formal. Save money on the food and get some more beer and wine.

I think pizza sounds fun! We are having a huuge wedding, close to 300, so we are doing our caterers cheapest option.... a buffet! We are debating bbq or baked chicken as the entree with several sides, like mashed potatoes, salad, mac n cheese. I think it will be just fine with our open bar and awesome DJ we lined up. Good luck!

We’re going super low key, backyard wedding. FH wants to wear shorts. So our current top option is burgers dogs and sides

For an informal wedding with a reception hall, pizza could work. Have a few options for dairy and gluten intolerances though. Maybe a salad bar and perhaps a meat option to pizza like meatballs or chicken?

The venue we have is attached to a Spanish Tapas restaurant. Our food is being served family style. I think there were other styles available but my venue coordinator suggests family and says that’s the easiest with tapas.
