We were discussing maybe just having pizza and some fruit trays/veggi trays at our reception. It could save us some money and time and who doesn't like pizza? however i don't want it to be tacky i was curious what other people thought about this. I hate the idea of having to pick certain meals that maybe people don't like when i could get several different kinds of pizza, and we are not planning on having a really large group.

Thanks

I SOOOOO wanted pizza!! FH won't allow it though. I freakin' love pizza and don't know anyone who doesn't. I don't think it's tacky at all, and some people will appreciate it more than they would a fancy dinner. I agree with Gabrielle though, don't make the reception formal if you do have pizza.

Someone posted about doing gourmet pizzas on here a few weeks ago and many people thought that it was a great idea. I think it is a good idea if it fits your style. From my catering experience- in order to keep the pizza hot leave them in the box and warm bricks wrapped in foil in the oven. place the boxes on the bricks and they should stay warm for about 20 minutes. You can also place sterno's under a very heavy metal pan and keep them warm this way--but i have seent the boxes smelter from the direct heat. If you try to keep them warm in a chaufer (sp?) be careful they seem to get rubbery.
