Reception ending time too early?

We found a great venue where the available date is a good day for the fall foliage we want. However, it's on a Sunday and the venue says we have to end the reception at 9. Is that way too early to end the reception?

For a Sunday I think it's okay... if it were a Saturday I would want it to go a bit later.

Agree with PPs.. I am that guest that will stay on the dance floor until the reception ends and because school starts early the next day, I would feel like I'd be missing out on all the fun if the reception went later than that on a Sunday night. Looks like a good plan to me!

The 4-9 timeline sounds great for a Sunday wedding. Did it myself. Everyone was ready to filter out around 8:30 anyways and out of town guests had early flights for Monday so it worked out for everyone.

What about instead of 9pm, do a Sunday Brunch reception? For Sunday weddings, that may be easier for OOT guests.

Our reception will start around 4:30, and end between 8:00 and 9:00 because we want a short one. It's probably fine, esp for a Sunday wedding. You know your crowd; some may be disappointed they can't stay and drink and dance.
