Reception end time.

Cynthia, on February 28, 2020 at 5:08 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 9
Just wanted to get some advice. I went to email a dj for a quote only to realize I have no clue what time to end our reception! We have the rental until 11pm, including clean up time for all items we bring ourselves (our venue supplies tableware, furniture, and linens, so its would mainly be any decorations brought in by us). Any suggestions on what time to end the reception to give enough time for clean up?

1 hour prior. so 10PM reception done gives you 1 hr to clear out decorations get cars packed up and get everything done.

Depending how many people you're gonna have to help you I'd say an hour for clean up too

We are ending ours at 9:30, but our cocktail hour is starting at 4:30.

We had to be out of daughter's venue by 10:30. The things we were responsible for sound kind of like what you're anticipating for your "clean-up" -- packing personal items and getting them to the car. Daughter's DOC was responsible for packing (decor, a few gifts, the card box, remaining floral arrangements, etc.) and getting everything up to the lobby (we were on a lower level) so all FOB had to do was actually put it in the car. The last song ended at 10. It took daughter and SIL awhile to say good-bye to their friends (no exit), they and their photographer were the last in the venue (he got some gorgeous photos of them in the empty space), and we were all out of the building before 10:30. They got in the Uber to the hotel and we took the SUV full of stuff home.

If you have enough help 30 mins should be enough time to clean up.

I guess it depends when the reception starts. I think a good time would be five hours?
My ceremony is from 2-2:30, immediately following is the cocktail hour, reception seating starts at 3:30, dinner served at 4:30, reception ends at 8:00. It’s a Sunday wedding so I didn’t want it running too late.

If you have simple items then I don’t think you really need that much time to clean

We have the reception room until midnight, but we are ending at 11 PM because of clean up and the DJ is only scheduled till 11 PM. That gives an hour to clean up.

I'd say 10:00 p.m. That gives you 1 hour, which should be enough time to clean up and keep you from having to rush.
