Reception Dress Change?

Lady.ghoulica, on July 27, 2018 at 1:32 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 12

My wedding dress is somewhat stiff and I didn't even give thought to the idea of changing into a more comfortable dress for the reception to dance until I saw a similar thread on here, and then I found a STUNNING dress on sale and I am kind of in love with it. What do you guys think? for $84, I think this is pretty affordable and I can wear it more than once. Do you think changing outfits is presumptuous, or a waste of money?

I personally would never want to change out of my wedding dress after the ceremony. I am in love with my dress and want to wear it all night. I think if you do want to change I would look for something more “bridal”. You will end up blending into the group in this dress, it looks like something a guest could wear. Just my opinion though.

That's a gorgeous dress! Are you wearing that color or does it come in white (just a curiosity question, either color is great). Personally I will not be changing, my mom bought my dress and I LOVE it, I want to wear it always lol soo changing isn't for me. But I dont find it presumptuous or a waste if you're going to be more comfortable and want to change. Plenty of brides have multiple outfits!

It's pretty. Just be sure the top fits really well so you don't have a boob popping out while you dance.

This is the only color it comes in. My dress is actually nude-blush, so it’s not even white.

That's pretty and I plan on changing after all the dances and cake and bouquet toss. And I like that dress. I want to be comfortable the rest of the night

I don't see a problem with it, but it is your big day and this dress isn't very bridal. Since I only get one day I want to look as bridal as possible and stand out. I'll be wearing my dress all night, but even if I were to change I don't think I'd want to blend in too much with the guests.

If you do change I would wait until after the first dance and cake cutting and that sort of thing so the pictures will have your wedding dress. After that change and party hard!

I went into dress shopping specifically to find a dress I could wear during the reception and then out partying on the Vegas strip or I would be changing lol

I never planned on changing out of my dress .. and then last night I went to a Taylor Swift concert and she wore sequin dresses all night and I looked at my made of honor and said “ I think I want to change into a sequin dress” and now I’m up in the air lol

I feel like I spent so much money on my dress that I might as well get my use out of it and wear it all night. You already only wear it one time so I want to wear mine as long as I can. Plus as others mentioned, I'd like to be wearing my dress in all of my pictures

I guess what it comes down to is feeling insecure. The dress I bought is beautiful, but not my first choice. Who knows, maybe the dress I really had my heart set on would have looked like garbage on me; at least the one I bought is more figure-flattering. I am actively trying to lose weight and trying on dresses for my bridal shower was a real eye-opener. I have wide hips and stomach rolls and I just hate it.

I don’t like the idea of changing out of my dress because I love it and spent so much money on it. Also, I don’t want to spend any time away from my wedding, changing, if I don’t have to.
With that said I think the dress is very pretty but I could easily see a guest wearing it to the wedding as well.

Do what makes you happy! I personally LOVE my dress and even still I will be changing into a second dress later on in the evening when the dancing really gets started. I will have worn my dress for hours at that point (bridal party pictures, ceremony, wedding party pictures and pictures with groom, first dance, speeches, dinner, etc.). I bought a gorgeous ballgown but have seen so many dresses ruined by dancing in it all night. Even restoration couldn't fix them.
