Reception Cookies

dme_cjm, on June 7, 2010 at 4:40 PM Posted in Planning 0 7

I plan on having cookies at the reception and we are making them. I have no idea what or how many or anything. What about making them before hand and freezing them? Any help would be awesome Smiley smile

How many are on your guest list? I would say do double the amount that are on your guest list. So if you have 100 people make 200 cookies. Yes, I believe you could probably make them early and freeze them! :-) Hope this helps!

I was told to plan for every guest to have 7 cookies. Cookies can last in the freezer so go right ahead and make them early!

There will be 80 people...i guess that would have helped! How many different varieties and how many of each? I haven't got a clue....

Just in case you are doing any with icing - do not ice and then freeze. Freezing the cookies with work fine. Ice them after thawing.

    Good luck!

What kind of cookies do you like? You could go with the basic: Chocolate Chip, Peanut Butter, Sugar, Wedding Cookies, and maybe something special (white chocolate, 5 chip, extra soft ones made with pudding mix). If you need recipes, I can help you out. I'm a huge fan of baking. If you're going to do sugar cookies, you could buy wedding cookie cutters (I buy my cutters here: http://www.karenscookies.net/Wedding_c_55.html)

Also, instead of frosting, you could do an icing. Make the icing thick enough to dip and hold on, but thin enough for the extra to drip off.

Some cookies don't freeze well at least not in my experience.

I don't know about you, but I would go to Costco and buy the cookies in bulk! I love to bake, but I can't imagine baking 150 cookies and then worrying about freezer space and then thawing them out and stuff. If you do it, I would recommend freezing and thawing them out to make sure they still taste OK and turn out the way you want. You don't want to have to worry about that later! (: I would think three kinds of cookies would be enough.

P.S. Seven cookies per person? I'd probably eat two. Do people really eat that many? I guess it depends how big it is too.
