Reception Completely Canceled?

Is anybody not postponing their reception and just deciding to completely cancel it? I really want the reception to happen, but also don't know when this will all be over and don't want to play the postponement guessing game. It sounds exhausting! Is anybody not postponing their reception and just deciding to completely cancel it? I really want the reception to happen, but also don't know when this will all be over and don't want to play the postponement guessing game. It sounds exhausting! Especially because we have half the family coming from out of town and both of our states are currently hot spots. But we haven't made any final decisions yet. Anyone else thinking about doing this or who has already done this?

I think the intimacy of that sounds so romantic! Yeah my FH and I are still discussing what we want to do, but we may just do a small ceremony and mini reception with immediate family only. I would love to do destination, but my mom has an autoimmune disease so she can’t travel and I really want her there. Whatever you decide I hope it turns out beautifully!

That's what we were feeling as well until a friend of mine suggested a 1 year anniversary celebration. That wasn't even a thought in my head, and when she said it it immediately made sense. My FH loved the idea as well so we could still have the celebration we wanted with our family and friends without taking away from our vision.

My fiancé and I had planned for a 160 person wedding in Florida in November where 99.9% of guests we’re coming in from out of town and out of the country. I’ve heard some horror stories About recent weddings having a lot of no-shows and early leaving guests. I just didn’t want to put us in that position so We downsized the wedding to 45 people (mostly family) and no formal reception ( to help with social distancing). Unfortunately, our vendors for the reception will not change their cancellation policies. So all of that money we paid upfront as deposits (which is about half of the services) they will keep. I get that vendors are having a hard time right now but Having to Alter your dream wedding then losing all that money Feels like getting kicked when you’re already down.

I have thought about it but we decided to have our reception. We’ve been together for 6 years and are in our 30s so we want to start a family soon. It’s been exhausting to plan this and our big fun 120 person wedding is now a 50 person event with people dropping like flies.... I don’t want to wait until next year bc aside from wanting kids, we have no idea what the next year will bring. The thought of postponing only to have this happen to us again is unbearable. Good luck with whatever you end up choosing to do Smiley kiss
