Reception Centerpieces

Yolanda, on March 3, 2021 at 12:12 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 9

My reception venue is a large ballroom with 22 foot ceilings that holds 250 people however our guest list will be between 125-150. We will have 21-25 tables because we will on sit 6 people at each table.

What are some ways to make the room "look big" without spending a lot of money on tall expensive centerpieces?

Not sure why you'd need the room to look big. We had about 100 people at our wedding and the room could fit about 500 people. Tables were spaced out, there was a buffet, a dance floor, a photo booth, and a stage of the DJ to set up. The room didn't look weird just because there were a small number of people compared to what the room can hold. In fact, I was glad we picked to have the larger room so that everything wasn't right on top of each other.

I would suggest home goods!!!!! I was able to find large floor vases for about 15 bucks a piece! If you put eye-catching pieces at the far corners of the room it makes peoples eyes go towards it and gives the appearance of a large space.
You could also section off an area if you have the room and go to thrift stores and try to find cheap antique furniture to create a little ballroom decor seating area so to speak. Sometimes you can find these pieces for as little as 30 bucks at thrift stores.

I personally feel like tall centerpieces would make a room look a little smaller since they'll take up more 'air' space. The ballroom sounds plenty large enough to accommodate 21-25 tables, plus with the high ceilings, you won't have any problem with the room looking small!

Totally agree that it should be fine, I had a ballroom for about 300 people with high ceilings and our guest list was 100 people. The tables had ample space between them, people can get up and talk to someone without being all up in another table. I think people enjoyed having space to dance other than the dance floor and just to mingle. The more you have to worry about adding the more stressful it becomes, trust me no one will even care or notice the space.

This was an idea I had as well...focus on the corners. I like the seating area idea as well. Thank you very much!

My mom and I designed our own center pieces that are small but cute why you want to have it look large. The most important part of the centerpieces is that you love them they don’t need to look real tall to fill up a room. To me if you have that many tables with this randomly high placed thing it may look a little weird. That’s my opinion at least.

My venue has a dome like and if you look up it has a really nice look with a chandelier so I don’t want it to take away from it.
