Receiving Line - Need alternate ideas!!

KneeKnee, on July 15, 2015 at 4:45 PM Posted in Planning 0 6

Hey Everyone!! I am hoping you fabulous ladies can give me some alternate ideas for greeting and thanking my wedding guests.

I have very sensitive skin and am dreading the receiving line. Basically if a kiss on the cheek a man who has a beard, or even folks wearing too much perfume my face will become extremely itchy and I will break out into hives. This is absolutely the last thing I want to happen on my wedding day. Do you guys have any suggestions for me on what I can do? Please help!!!!!!!!

So you can't hug people it sounds like? Just keep your hands full with something, maybe a guest book type thing and ask people to sign their name as you say your hellos?

I would hope that people close enough to be invited to your wedding would know you well enough to know that you have such sensitive allergies?

You could always do table visits during dinner and tell guests not to get up. That way you could do the awkward half-side hug and avoid any bear-scrapage?

My family is certainly well aware of it, but my fiance's family and extended family not necessarily.,

I think you should tell your fiance's family. Maybe they'll even have some advice for you! I think signing a guestbook might take too long and would seem too impersonal.

The table idea seems like the best shot. This is part of Chinese culture, but you basically go to each table between courses or just after the main entree and toast each table. If you're drinking alcohol, make sure you only take a small sip or you'll be smashed by the time you're done. No hugs involved. Chinese are not huggers culturally. lol.
