Reasonable floral budget?

AnonPoster1234, on January 9, 2018 at 7:49 PM Posted in Planning 0 10

Hi -

I'm in the midst of planning and trying to figure out how much to tell florists I can budget for their services. I want to spend as a little as possible but without inflicting a ton of DIY on myself (a little is fine, but honestly, I'd rather have the pros do it). I'm not picky on kind of flower at all, but I do REALLY like succulents - our colors are navy, champagne, ivory, and sage - so probably ivory and sage flowers mostly. What's the minimum you think this could go for / is reasonable to ask for? We're in NYC.

1 bridal bouquet

5 BM bouquets

1 grooms bout

2 groomsment bouts

1 corsage (parents dont want them, but grandma does)

20 low centerpieces (we HATE the high ones)

1 escort card table arrangement

1 flower arrangement for my hair

1 chuppah

What do you think? Originally I had wanted to budget $3k, but I think I might be dreaming. Any experience?

There is no way $3000 in NY for what you want is feasible. I would skip boutonnières, corsages, any hair clips/crowns, and biggest savings would be to cut the centerpieces.

The bouq co will ship anywhere in the cou try and could probably do it for that prive no problem. You can do the DIY package or prepackaged which comes with bouquets and centerpeices, etc put together. And they have packages with sage and ivory colors so you should check them out.

I was quoted for 48 hundred and some change for less than what you mentioned and I'm getting married in Puerto Rico.

The 20 centerpieces and chuppah will probably eat up most of your budget. The centerpieces could be $50-100 each and not sure how many flowers you want on your chuppah but it could easily be $500 or more. My BM bouquets were $65 each and my bouquet was $125. My floral crown was $50. Each bout was $15 and corsage were $35. This was in Sonoma which tends to be pricey but I don't know how it compares to N.Y. My total floral budget was $2500, but I was able to do this by repurposing the garlands used to drape the pews for the ceremony and using them for my centerpieces for the reception.

This is helpful. I mean, I need a chuppah and I don't really care about it being like *covered* in flowers but I can't really cut this out. And for the 20 centerpieces, I want really simple low ones, but I hvae 200 guests, so i'll have 20 tables. There's not too much I can do about this.

You could do long tables or a mix of long and round tables so then you could repurpose the flowers from your chuppah to use as your centerpieces. Also greenery will be less expensive than flowers, but garlands will be the most expensive because they're labor intensive. Also, get quotes from outlying florists instead of in the city because their prices can vary drastically, so much so that even if they charge a travel/delivery fee it will still be less expensive than using a more local florist.

Thank you! I actually really like long tables and already asked my venue about them but it's an extra charge. I'll think about it, but I'm thinking round tables it is...

Maybe a stupid question, but who would take flowers off a chuppah and put them on a table? Like how would things get repurposed on day-of? Is this a DOC's job or what?

Good suggestion about looking outside the city, even with the travel fee!

My florist did this but it helped the church was a 7 minute drive from the reception space. Plus she was able to set up everything else earlier that day so all she had to do was gather the garlands and set them out on the tables. My wedding planner helped her too. Here is a pic of the garlands in the church and then used for the reception centerpieces and our sweetheart table.

We are in the Philly area and were quoted $1460 for our wedding ceremony and reception florals which included bride's bouquet and toss bouquet, 6 bridesmaids bouquets, 1 flower girl flower crown, 8 bouts, 3 corsages, 2 ceremony gazebo pieces and 6 aisle chair pieces, greenery and blooms for each of our 19 reception tables, and greenery for welcome sign. We're re-purposing our ceremony gazebo pieces for our head table and the bridal party bouquets for accents on our gift/seating/and cake tables. Hope this helps!
