Reasonable cost for a DJ?

Brooke, on May 25, 2021 at 9:51 AM Posted in Planning 0 15
What is a reasonable cost for a DJ? I got a quote for $1,200 for all day, which is what we need- ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception. I was wondering if that’s a good deal. Thanks!

The cost will highly depend on where your wedding is located. However, that pricing seems pretty reasonable (at least, for the area that I live in, it's reasonable)! I recommend checking with a few different DJ options in your area to get an idea of what they each charge.

That's not bad, I think I got quoted 1,400 in my area but I'm not hiring one.

As Lisa said, its going to depend on where you are located. However, $1,200 for all day seems to be the average.

I think that’s a really good price for the day.

That's around what we're paying for the whole day. The package will include pre-ceremony, ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception as well as uplighting.

We paid $1700 total for ceremony, cocktail hour, reception, LED marquee letters, custom floor monogram, and 20 uplights with custom dance floor lighting. $1200 seems pretty good for all day to me!

Totally depends on the area. Ours is $975 and has really good reviews, but most in our area were closer to $2000.

Yeah I guess I should’ve originally stated my location lol I’m from a small town, it won’t be in the city! And the ceremony and reception are at the same venue. So just making sure that’s not too expensive for one venue, not multiple!! Thanks everyone!

I'd say that's probably a good deal in your area. I'm not in a huge city, but we live in a gorgeous city on the CA coast. Everything is WAY too expensive here and $1200 is an absolute steal. I have a friend who's a DJ and his friends and family quote was $1800 (normal rate is $2200 I think). The average in my area is around $2100, so I think you're good with $1200!

That’s exactly what I’m paying and I thought it was reasonable. He comes with great reviews and has done thousands of weddings. I felt okay with the price

Our DJ was about that price. It probably just depends on where you are located.
