Realistic Wedding Day Timeline

My wedding planner sent us a timeline for our that starts at 8 am, but our ceremony doesn't start until 6 pm! Am I wrong to think that this is way off? Does it really take all day to get ready? She also has me getting my hair and make up done first -- at 8 am. I don't think I'll be in a great mood...
My wedding planner sent us a timeline for our that starts at 8 am, but our ceremony doesn't start until 6 pm! Am I wrong to think that this is way off? Does it really take all day to get ready? She also has me getting my hair and make up done first -- at 8 am. I don't think I'll be in a great mood if I have to wake up at 7 am or earlier on a Saturday and stay up until 1 am (reception ends at midnight).

Background: I have 3 bridesmaids who are arriving dressed with their hair done (on their own). We're all getting make up done (with smocks to protect clothing). The hotel we're getting ready at is 3 blocks from the venue, and the ceremony and reception are at the same place. My photographers aren't arriving until 2 pm, and we're taking all of our pictures before the ceremony. (We could pay for an additional hour if they should arrive at 1 pm instead.) FH an I are in our early 30s and can't stay up all day and night anymore. Our rehersal dinner won't end until late the night before because our venue doesn't allow weekday rehersals before 6 pm. Neither of us are morning people, which is why we chose an evening wedding.
We thought that our wedding day timeline would start at like 10 or 11 am. Are we crazy? Or should we send our planner back to the drawing board?

Honestly, I find that ridiculous, but, like you, I don't do mornings.

    We got married at 5PM.

I got up somewhere between 10 and 11AM, got to my parents' hotel by noon, and the limo picked us up at 1PM, to be at the venue at 2PM, where I got ready.

Now, we didn't do pictures before the ceremony, and my BP got ready partly at home and partly at the venue. They did not do professional hair and makeup (...though that's only half true, as most of them are in theatre).

It really depends on when you need to be ready for pictures, how many of you are getting hair and makeup, and how many people you have doing said hair and makeup. If it's only one... it takes a while.... though I wouldn't do the bride first!

Same, I told my MUA I wanted to be wrapped up by 2:00 for my photographer, and she suggested getting started at 10:00 for 3 of us (including myself). She said about an hour per person and that brides usually choose to go last.

I know for my friend’s wedding she got started at 8:00 am but had to have her hair set in curlers.

8am is upsurd sorry I say 11 it should take roughly 45 mins per person for make-up. Which means you are done and finishing up right as the photographers are coming. Let your girls get their make-up done first while you are having your hair tackled. If you want to pay the photographer an extra hour to take pics of you getting made up thats fine but feel you have more than enough time.
