Realistic time to walk down the aisle

Corrin, on August 5, 2021 at 11:37 PM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 5

I know this will depend upon how far you're walking, but in general how long do you think it takes? Is the music supposed to fade once you stand in front of your partner or when you're handed off?

Do people normally have a different song from when the bridesmaids/groomsmen walk in?

I genuinely cannot remember from any wedding I've been to lol.

I have a few different songs in mind but they have varying lengths, and I'll need to cut them depending.

Any thoughts appreciated Smiley heart

The musically typically fades out once the bride gets to the front (I've honestly never been to a wedding where the bride was "given away" so I can't speak to that). You can have the same song for everyone, but I've mostly seen (and what I've done) the bride having a different song from the bridal party. I feel like processionals typically take like 3 minutes or so, but it depends on how long your aisle is.

At our wedding, the music faded away when my dad and I got to the front and he gave me away to my husband. Music wise we had both moms and the bridal party walk down to one song and my dad and I walked down to a separate song. I have always seen the bridal party walk down the aisle to a separate song than the bride.

Hi Corrin! We had music for when my groom and his groomsmen entered. We had separate song for the grandparents, parents and moms lit candles. Then one song for my party and myself to walk down (I came in when the music swelled). We had our DJ do the music for both ceremony and reception. He faded it out when my dad and I got to the altar.

This was the hardest part to figure out at my rehearsal and the timing of it all. If I had to do it again, I would have gone by myself to the site with the music on my phone and took notes on who begins to walk down at each specific part of the music. Would’ve saved me the extra hour at rehearsal we didn’t plan for!! ❤️❤️❤️

Oh my gosh - going to the site myself just to walk it and time it is such a good idea...

It'll help my little brain out as I love having the details for everything laid out. Even if it doesn't actually happen the perfect way, just having a plan makes me feel so much calmer. Thank you!

That is a great idea. I think I'll do this when I go to the venue for the tasting.
