What are your thoughts on using fake flowers vs real ones in the wedding and reception? We have a lot of members with seasonal allergies and our event is on May. This will ensure no one has any issues and it saves money!
Plenty of couple's are using faux flowers over real ones nowadays! They save your budget too, whereas real flowers can break the bank.
We're having real flowers and greenery, but for smaller details like the garland for a mantlepiece or greenery for the food table, we're using faux greenery that our venue has in their decor closet!
I prefer fresh/real flowers anyday, and they can actually be cheaper than silks if you go through a local grocery store/Costco or fiftyflowers.com. plus sticking with in season flowers. Also you can't recreate the scent, look or texture with silks without getting super expensive.
I have severe allergies to flowers grown in the garden, but have no allergies whatsoever to grocery store or professional florist flowers because they go through a different process so allergens are not present. We're either doing the fiftyflowers.com route or a pro florist with real flowers.

Breaking the bank is an understatement, lol. But we have allergies and spring (wedding time) can be dreadful. Also, we can make all the arrangements we desire so I think we may go with the Faux flowers.

Wow, thanks for the information! I had no idea that flowers from a florist lack the allergens people react to! And I am totally with you on preferring real flowers. I had originally planned on doing faux flowers just to save money, but I realized right away that faux flowers, no matter how realistically looked, they never compared to real flowers. The colors and textures were never quite right. And I absolutely love the smell of fresh flowers and greenery! I have an incredibly sensitive nose, so no scented candles for us (I would have a headache within 10 minutes). Fresh flowers was the perfect way to add a beautiful scent to our ceremony and reception without being overwhelming.

Trust, I would love the real ones, but the price alone is almost the same as our honeymoon. I may keep my flowers and center pieces real and the bridesmaids from Etsy....I’ve seen some beautiful arrangements.

I didn’t know that information about the flourish as well. I think I’m going to keep the centerpiece flowers real for the major tables and the surrounding tables will have the floating candles with faux flower inside.

I love it. I found some amazing arrangements on Etsy that I’ve fallen in love with. amazon has everything so I’m going to look on there as well!!
I’m absolutely using silk flowers, floral arrangements are not one of my top three things that I want to spend money on for the wedding, so I’m saving money by renting them from Something Borrowed Blooms. They’re gorgeous and you can get them scented so they still smell nice. I also don’t care about keeping my bouquet or doing a bouquet toss so it all works out nicely (you can opt to purchase your bouquet and rent a tossable one from them but I don’t feel the need to do so).
