Real vs. fake flowers?

Brittany, on July 17, 2019 at 1:20 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 19
I'm planning a wedding for next may and cannot decide between the expense of a florist or if I should just do all fake flowers. After looking on Amazon there seems to be a decent amount for pretty inexpensive amount. Thoughts on the fake vs. real? Or anyone get fake ones from Amazon and your thoughts?

My bouquet ordered off of amazon. Not only was it a great price, I get to keep it forever! The thought that I am not having real flowers at the wedding doesn't bother me one bit. I am not sure if I am the minority but I am super excited to have this. Plus No mess, no worrying about the flowers being delivered on time etc!

I got real touch fake flowers custom made on Etsy. $400 for cascading bridal bouquet, 3 matching BM bouquets, 4 matching corsages and 4 matching bouts. Here's a picture of my bouquet.

Do you know the person you bought them from on Etsy by chance?

Yes I do! She is amazing! She has a lot of pictures of things she has already done and will add/ change things to make them what you want. She also offered me a 50/50 payment option which I paid half upfront and then when everything was finished she send me pictures and I approved everything and then she asked for the other half and shipped them! She is very nice and responds pretty quickly to messages. The shop is called DressMyWedding. She also makes other things besides bouquets.

I personally prefer the look and feel of real flowers. Since we weren’t doing much aside from party flowers they were fairly inexpensive.

Here in MD I was quoted $600 for my bouquet, 4 bridesmaids bouquets, 9 boutonnières, 3 wrist corsages and cake flowers.

I didn't want to spend a ton on florists, but still wanted real flowers. So I'm planning on using my local grocery store floral department - real flowers for a fraction of the cost! So consider your local grocery stores Smiley smile

I’m doing real flowers for the bouquets and arch so they’ll look pretty in the photos. I’m not as concerned about the centerpieces so those are fake.

That's exactly how I'm currently feeling. Everything real for the ceremony but fake for the reception

We are doing fake. At first I hated the idea, but my mom is a retired florist and she convinced me that it is the best option. Our wedding is in two months and we already have all our arrangements done. Here is the one for the wedding table —— the week of the wedding she will make boutineers/corsages, and incorporate some real flowers around the venue. PS she thrifted all the vases - this one is REAL silver! All our flowers were 60-70% off at Michael’s. What would’ve been over $500 was around $150. She was able to do 12 arrangements for that cost.

Correct! It will be pricey without a discount, though.

I did fake flowers as well. Hobby Lobby has sales all the time, just be on the lookout, or give them a call.

The cost of all my flowers was pretty cheap, and I get to keep my bouquet forever Smiley smile

I used fake and have no regrets!

Examples of how my bouquet and some of my bridesmaid's bouquets turned out!

I got mine at Michael's during their door buster floral sale and I got flowers for all of my floral decor for under $300.

We bought everything fake from Hobby Lobby, and it was all less than $300. Ling's is a shop that sells on Amazon and their fake flowers are amazing! They are a little pricey, so I'm not sure how they compare to real flowers, but it something we ordered months in advance.

I’m doing fake flowers. My FH was upset at first, because his aunt used to be a florist, and would be upset. I told him that if she wanted real flowers that badly she could pay for them, and he stopped talking about it.

Keep in mind Silk flowers can cost just as much as real flowers if not even more. I used real flowers. My florist made my bouquet, my 2 bridesmaids bouquets, 5 boutonnieres and 2 corsages. For my centerpieces I got fresh flowers from a local farm.

    I used Budget-Bride.

There are too many allergies, and real flowers are too expensive, so fake it is!
