Real Talk - Boudoir Letdown

Samantha, on August 6, 2019 at 1:24 PM Posted in Planning 0 12
I recently did some boudoir photos with Celebrate Your Sexy after my fiancé won me a lux package at a bridal show we attended - said package was “worth” $850 which was the luxury shoot, (2) 5x7 retouched prints, $75 image credit, and $100 credit toward a luxury photo book.

I did it up. Took a train into Philly, had my hair done, nails and makeup. Picked up some sexy new lingerie. And the shoot went great! Had so much fun and was excited to see how they turned out. I don’t regret the day or anything spent toward it - needed my hair done anyway for the wedding and it was a nice day out in the city.

I did my viewing today and I’m so bummed out! Not with me but the company. I loved the way my photos turned out and I’m proud of my body... but I’m only getting the 2 free 5x7 images. Why? They really rip you off with the price of photos, for a reasonable package to get the book, free shipping and all my images digitally it was $1900!!!!!! Each digital image started at $125 to purchase and only reduced to $79 if you bought 30+ images which made the price of 30 images over $2k! I’m left stunned and feeling robbed of some beautiful photos. I’m thankful to have gotten my 2 free photos with no caveats. But be warned ladies if you go with this company, the cost of photos is not worth it, you’ll spend hundred for the photo shoot then thousands for digital photos. Maybe one day I’ll get to experience it again and be able to keep my photos, they really showed off my hard work I’ve put in working out all these months.

Everyone “wins” one of these packages at wedding shows. I’m so sorry! I actually booked and paid a deposit with CYS and then found out it was a total scam. I found a reputable photographer from recommendation and had an amazing shoot. It was only $300 for 30 pictures.
It is absolutely possible to get great boudoir photos at good prices. I was shocked at how much CYS charges for photos.

I'm so sorry you had this experience and I'm glad you shared it. I knew about their marketing in advance and just ignored the call when they said I "won" a shoot. I'm pretty sure no one "pays" for their shoots and everyone "wins" them, then they have to pay a ton for pictures after. Make sure to post this review on Google & The Knot & Wedding Wire & Yelp so people read it before doing it!

I'm sorry you had such a bad experience! I went for a boudoir shoot and the price was actually comparable. However, the cost for each item was fully listed on their website and re-iterated before I booked with them. No surprises. Purposely hiding that information with give-aways is very shady. 😕

I agree this is awful, and I'm sorry it happened to you, but I think it's VERY TYPICAL of any of the "FREE" offers associated with bridal shows and other means of preying on brides. Hopefully other readers will learn from your experience that most these offers are shams. I also agree that it would be super helpful if you post honest, factual reviews everywhere you can to help warn others. Smiley heart

Absolutely! They are getting a hard truth review from me so other women can be warned their missing pricing and free gifts are very very deceiving!

Ugh that sucks Smiley sad I'd be sooo mad!! I'm sorry!

My photographer offered boudoir OR bridal session - maybe you could redo them with the photographer for your wedding for a better price?

Companies need to make money one way or another. They can’t give their products and services away for free.

I’m not saying they shouldn’t make money. But they shouldn't be ripping people off - when wedding photography is cheaper with sometimes thousands of pictures included there’s something wrong with their pricing structure when under 100 digital pictures will cost you nearly $3000 without the session.

Wow. I also "Won" one of these prizes and when I asked them how much it cost to buy the photos after, they wouldn't give a straight answer!! I pushed them twice and after they refused to say anything beyond "it depends," I declined the "prize." Thanks for the info!

Agreed. They're preying on your emotions. They're recouping the cost of the session in the image and album fees. It's fine if they're up front about it, but instead they give you dodgy answers and try to hide the ball because they know if they can talk you into doing it, they will show you the images and emotionally manipulate you into opening your wallet. It's not that you're expecting pics for free, it's just that you want them to be more upfront about the costs.

I had "won" this too after going to a bridal show, but I never really entertained the idea.
