Real or Fake?

Lauren, on December 18, 2017 at 5:48 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 19
I’m looking into flowers and I can’t decide which to do! I need some pros and cons on real and fake flowers? Which ones cheaper? And which one seemed to work for you? Thanks ❤️

I think it depends on how much you plan to incorporate flowers into your wedding and if it matters to you if they’re real or fake. I also think generally real flowers are more expensive than fake. I could care less for real flowers which is why I’m using fake flowers for my bouquets and centerpieces. My centerpieces include a rose kissing ball (pre-made) with a single stem rose. I have my bouquet plus four for my bridesmaids, wrist corsages for the moms, and then the boutonnière for the men. I’ve also heard of other brides using bulk flowers from like Costco or Sams Club that they’re able to put together themselves.

Fake flowers are okay as long as they’re good quality

I like the fake flowers. I will get to keep my bouquet and use it as a center piece or keep it on my fireplace after the wedding.

I depends on your taste and budget. I am always going to be a real flower person. I always think fake flowers look fake but some people don't care. I did go to a wedding where the bride and groom used pages from a book to make flowers and I thought they were so cute.

If you do fake flowers don't do super cheap looking ones because they will look cheap. Find some decent looking fake ones and if they cost about the same as the real then I'd go with real flowers. Also you can look for maybe buying flowers at local grocery stores to cut costs.

Nice looking fake flowers can be pretty costly too. I am saving money on flowers by keeping them extremely simple and in-season, vs ordering something out of season or very involved.

I'm actually doing dried flowers. They technically are still real, but they're dried. Fraction of the cost and can be stored up to 6 months before in a dark bin. On Etsy, her name is SeasonalBounty. Best of both worlds. I got my bouquet, toss bouquet, bouquets for 8 BM, 6 Mothers, grandmothers, 8 boutonnieres GM, and 3 Dads/Grandfathers boutonnieres for less than $500 with shipping, and if it doesn't cost the full shipping amount, she'll refund me.

    My bouquet.

We are doing fakes for allergy reasons. I will also be selling them after our wedding to make some of the money back.

For fake flowers to look good they can sometimes be as expensive if not more so than real flowers. I always like real flowers better. You can always cut the cost by adding extra greenery!

We are doing fake flowers for the centerpieces (wooden Sola flowers) and real flowers for bouquets, head table, and other miscellaneous areas.
Our centerpieces will have 22 flowers and will be $40 each totally dyed and assembled by someone else. This is SO much cheaper than real flowers and I think they look great! I’m also planning to resell them after the wedding.

I hate flowers. So I'm going with fake ones for the bouqets. Those are going to be the only flowers in the whole wedding

Plenty of other options aside from fake aka silk flowers. Paper and felt flowers can look amazing and you have them for forever.

I had non-floral centrepieces, so the only flowers were my bouquet and the two bridesmaid bouquets. I only wanted gerbera bouquets (I had red and my girls had white) and decided that fake was definitely the way to go. Got them from Etsy, cost me $70 including shipping and they looked great. I just wrapped ribbon around the stems and it was done. Basically it was one less thing to worry about - I crossed it off the list super early and pretty much forgot about it!

I am using sola flowers and spent less than $400 on 1-bride bouquet, 5-bridesmaid bouquets, 1-flower girl bouquet and 6-boutonnieres and I love them Smiley heart

In my opinion, dont use real flowers if you're DIYing. Spending the day before your wedding learning to be a florist might not work out. You'll also need to find a refrigerator for them to spend the night in since they will be in bouquets and not water.
I live those gorgeous paper or wooden flowers and you have months to work with them an get everything just right. I even like them if you're using a professional!
Real flowers are gorgeous! They smell good, they get delivered, they're soft against your skin.
I hate craft store silk flowers. They always look fake. I know, I know, they're cheap and keep costs down but they look cheap.
****These are my opinions and not the word of God. Please take with a grain of salt.
