Real name vs nickname on invitation?

My real name is Margaret, but I've always gone by Meg. Most people know me by Meg and there are only two people that call me Margaret. I'm trying to decide which I should put on the invitation. We are not having a very formal wedding, but I still feel like a wedding invitation is something that...

We are not having a very formal wedding, but I still feel like a wedding invitation is something that should be more traditional or formal.

Any advice?

I put my nickname on the invitation. I despise my given name so I didn't use it. No regrets..I also left out my middle name, also despised.

I had this same quandary and I think that since no one calls us by our full names we are just going to go with Sam and Mike on everything. We are not having a super formal event and our invites are pretty whimsical so it fits well. Smiley smile

You can do your full name with "Meg" in the middle if you want. Its not formal, but it has been done. A recent groom is nicknamed "3er" and that is all everyone knows him by so we printed it just like that: Richard "3er" Motch

I'm Margaret too but go by Megan. Very few people know me as Margaret. They were actually shocked to find that out when they saw it on the invite. I thought it should be formal so even though I hate Margaret I put Margaret on there.

My FH's first name is Everhart. No one calls him this (except me, when I use his full name). He goes by Chip. We're having a VERY small wedding (my parents actually asked why I even bothered with STD's and invites) so I went ahead and used chip on our save the dates and invites, as it's pretty informal.

Ugh, this was also my thing! But not full name v nickname but my real name v what I wish my name was! My birth name is Chris and I've always hated it. I was sooo tempted to have Christina & Michael on the invitation cards but I decided to have my real name.

We out full first, middle and last on ours. Our wedding is fairly formal.

I used first middle and last name . I personally wouldn't use nicknames but that's just me

I'm also a fan of the full name. If you do programs or have any signs with your names on it for the wedding, I would go with your nickname on those.

I'm a fan of full names. Especially if you're putting your last name, people will know it's you. I think it's more formal with full names.

I'd use your full name because it is more formal.

My fiancé is the third of his name and goes by Trae. We will not be using his full name, simply Trae on the invitation Smiley smile

If you are concerned they won't realize the invitation is for you... I think I'm going to do my nickname "Alli" on the Save the Dates, but full name "Alyssa" on the actual invitations. Maybe you could do something similar?
