Reading each other’s vows?

I think I'm a little confused. Are you talking about exchanging the papers and reading them aloud in front of your guests? Or reading them to yourselves before the wedding like letters?

As a guest I would find it distinctly odd - but it's your wedding, you can do what you want (since it won't affect your guests' experience).

As a bride, I would rather read my own vows to my husband during the ceremony, as I want my promises to him to be spoken from my mouth, not his. I love the idea of writing love letters to each other though, and reading those either before or during the ceremony!

We wrote our own vows and they were incredibly specific from each other so they would have made no sense if we had read the other person’s. If your vows are kind of vague this could work.
