Readers and gift bearers

Felicia, on January 16, 2018 at 9:30 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 6
So I’ve read about getting readers and gift bearers corsages and bouttonieres but I don’t think my mom would like other people having corsages. Is there any other way to make these people kind of stand out?

Maybe have them dress up slightly more or in your wedding colors. I have a few readers and they will be in teal shirts with suspenders and a bow tie while my groomsmen will be in their tuxes with teal vests.

You could also change the ribbon, flowers, size etc of your mothers corsage so that hers is different from the others

If you are old enough to get married, you are old enough to talk with your mom and tell her that you'll make the decisions. Why anyone would be so petty as to be mad that other people have flowers is beyond belief.

Yeah agree you should give them corsages/bouts. I have always seen them wearing them. Agree w @OG Gretchen that if your mom is that upset about it, get her a large-and-in-charge wrist corsage and give your readers more mellow pin corsages etc.

Sometimes moms say things that show they just want to know they are important to you. I had a grandmother who said things like the above, about the corsages. We'd just smile at her, and carry on with whatever we thought was right.

If you want to do corsages, do them.

Just remember to give your mom some special words, hugs, notes, etc.... around the time of your wedding. Mothers have tender feelings about weddings. Smiley smile
