Re-inviting Guests to your Postponed Wedding due to Covid19?

Stacie, on March 18, 2020 at 4:20 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 12

HI, for those of us who have had to postpone our weddings to a later date due to the COVID19 crisis/pandemic, we now have to re-invite people again. For us, I do not want to spend additional money on invitations, RSVP cards, etc., again. just to change the date. For us, everything remains the same, location, time, vendors, thank God. We manually received our confirmations and opted not to use TheKnot, WeddingWire, etc. but we will have to rethink this again too.

What are you using to re-invite everyone?

I would send a postcard or, if you have everyone’s email, a digital invite.

We have also decided to postpone and I have the same issue. Maybe if you have their phone numbers or emails you can just give them a call or send out a group email letting them know of the date change. I am thinking of doing this; and I’m sure most people would understand a couple not wanting to repurchase invitations just for a date change.

Honestly I would just call them. I can't imagine guests would expect a new invite amidst this chaos. I am sure their hearts break for you.

They do. We've been texting and calling. Such a shame with all this planning and anticipation.

I agreed. I was just wondering what others were doing.

I haven't slept well for awhile now. I am glad guests understand because I probably couldn't handle people being angry over this.

We're calling everyone and first telling them the news. Then we are going to text them the link to RSVP online, and lastly we're mailing postcards out to the people that aren't too tech savvy. The postcards cost me less than $60, so definitely not bad compared to the amount I spent on my original invitations and postage.

Girl, I shot them all a text lol. I have bigger problems than trying to fancy up a way to tell them our new date! They were all super understanding about it and so kind :-)

I've seen a few posts on facebook of people doing free change the date cards for couples who have to change there date due to all this craziness.
maybe try good searching "change the date cards" and see if anything comes up

We had to reschedule our twice. We are now going to go through with it hook or crook, May 1, 2021. Same venue, same everything. A lot of traveling and elderly family members will not be attending now. But we are still going to get married. We are however sending out Re-Invites. It is simply a letter I will write/type and mail to all who were coming before. It will include all previous information with any updated changes as well as new information, like having to have a COVID test and mask wearing and socially distancing to attend. The count will dwindle of course for several reasons. But our venue will work with us. So we are blessed and grateful for that.
