Rash guard swimsuit for no tanlines?

Justine, on June 29, 2018 at 2:17 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 17

I am getting married next July, so I am a definite summer bride. We all know that summer comes with tan lines that sometimes can look horrible! I noticed when I went wedding dress shopping that you could see my awful tan line where I had burnt with my racerback tank top (I missed a spot with sunscreen!!) and the swimsuit top band tan line across my back because my dress has a low back.

Has anyone used a rash guard swimsuit in the summers (like the ones they use for surfing) to prevent tan lines? It would look something like this (It's actually really cute!)

Rash guard swimsuit for no tanlines? 1

I'm a frequent pool and lake-goer and I have fair skin! So I burn, THEN I tan. I'd rather just avoid all the hassle and wear a rash guard swimsuit for those days! And mowing the lawn I'd wear a long sleeved shirt, etc. I might get a spray tan for the wedding, so I don't have to worry about looking pale in the middle of July. Let me know if this helped you if you used one, or if I would just be wasting my money since I don't surf, or live anywhere near a place where I could surf! lol

I almost bought something just like this when I was in Hawaii! I also have very fair skin and enjoy doing things outside. I've been trying to keep my tan even by wearing a variety of tops and shoes when working outside, but I think overall, I will end up having to get a spray tan.

I think the swimsuit would be worth the money. I should be more careful with my skin and will probably look into getting one too for those long river days.

The problem with wearing something like that though, is you will likely get a really weird tan line on your hands and your neck, which in my opinion would be worse than the more typical swimsuit tan lines.

I think you would be better of being extremely diligent with SPF and trying to stay in the shade as much as possible to avoid the odd tan lines.

That is actually kind of cute! I haven't really thought about how to not get weird tan lines! I know I won't wear t-shirts outside to long so I don't get a farmers tan!

I struggle with the same thing, I am also fair skinned. The only thing after I burn I don't really tan. Out of my mom, sister and dad, I am the only one that does not tan well! I might be lucky then but I am still be careful!

Agreed with the above poster about the strange tan lines. I think you're better off to make sure you totally cover up in high SPF and avoid being outside for long periods of time without reapplying. You could also lay out here and there to even out any spots you have. Or get a spray tan before the wedding to even out your skin tone.

My wedding is in August, and I have. Tan line from LAST YEAR!! so this year I’ve tried to be extra careful with the sun and read up on ways to blend lines. And I was outside for ONE hour and got tan. So I’ve been working to fade them. And it’s been pretty successful for me. If your worried about tan lines you can always look into a strapless top. I agree with the PP about the neck and hands. But if you lol on Pinterest I’m sure you can find ways to even them out. Or even how to get rid of them. In my case I’m getting a spray tan this next week over a month before the wedding to even me out more. And as a base so lines won’t be as noticeable.

I think it is a great idea to prevent the unwanted tan lines. I don't really have tanning issue because I come from an ethnicity where we are already dark and tans don't show up on me much anyways (lol).

I'm a lifeguard and work outside in the summer. I have a suit with a more open back for my sweetheart top dress. I will have some tan lines, but it won't be as terrible as the typical lifeguard suits.

Maybe a strapless suit would be better to avoid the neck and hand tan lines. And then just be sure to use lots of sunscreen. Also you may want to talk to your makeup artist...if they airbrush they can even you out some. Or just get a spray tan to even out

I bought a strapless swimsuit (can add and take off the straps) and then bought another swimsuit that has straps in the similar place as my wedding dress... i had the same fear! I usually wear a halter top swimsuit and have a normal strap wedding dress so I didn't want that tan line... I am getting little tan lines, but with my straps I think it should look "normal" not perfect.... my back is a little worse, but i plan to frame pictures of my front Smiley winking

My wedding is in September and I have been avoiding tan lines basically the same qay as you plan! I work outside most the time so I wear the heatgear long sleeves..which I surprisingly find comfortable and helpful in the florida heat. As far as the swimsuit I try to avoid the pools or anything like that just but if I was you I'd definitely do that rash guard.. which is actually really cute! Good luck!

I currently wear strapless tops, but the problem is that I have a low back wedding dress, and when I was trying on you could see the tan line from the back of the strapless top.... I might go the route of a low scoop back one piece and if I want to lay out, just take the straps off. The straps are usually too wide on those suits for the the thin straps my dress has.

Take it from someone who did band camp...long sleeves/pants/socks like this leave VERY STARK tanlines. You could tell immediately where my sock was every day once band camp was over.

If tan lines are really an issue, you can always use spray tan to even it up! I have a super weird tan line right now too from wearing a halter-top bathing suit, it happens, if it bothers me when we get closer to the wedding, I'm planning on doing some spray-tanning for the first time ever.

Oh I forgot, I think there’s such a thing as tan through swim suits...I’ve never had one but I’ve seen them advertised that they don’t leave tan lines

Having the same struggle. I usually live in racer back tanks during the summer. I'm having to be extra careful this year because of my backless wedding dress. I have a variety of mix and match swim tops. I also have one tank that is only for yardwork since I got paint all over it. So I throw it on over my swim suit, do my sunscreen, and then take the tank off. That way the rest of my back can get a little sun before I sunscreen it too. I figured I would try to minimize the color difference and get a spray tan to help even it out the rest of the way if needed.

I’m in the same exact situation. I am getting married next September & basically spend my whole summer at the beach & I tan VERY easily. My dress is some what low cut and a sweetheart top and the back is low and lace/see through. I am extremely nervous for next summer and have no idea what I am going to do!

I'm having flashbacks to my daughters' homecoming pictures with all their band friends, lots of sock lines on those girls as well as glove lines on brass and color guard members!

Op, other than copious amounts of sunscreen, wearing a suit that best matches your dress is your best bet. Makeup is an optionn or just don't worry about it.
