Raising my white flag

Melinda, on October 27, 2021 at 4:51 PM Posted in Planning 0 8

After 9 months of planning we are only 130ish days out.

Today I officially gave up trying to be superwoman! I manage a dental practice four days a week and also work 8 days a month bartending to help pay for the wedding. We are having a hundred person formal wedding in March and I feel like i've already been getting increasingly stressed as each week goes by ( I do have anxiety anyways) All of our vendors have been booked and mostly paid for for awhile, it's just all the little things.

Today I finally just threw in the towel and talked to my fiance about it. We are officially hiring a wedding planner to finish us out. I feel like 30 pounds has already been lifted off of me! We have to really tighten up to afford it but it's the most excited of been in months.

Just needed to share!

Can anyone else relate?

It sounds like it'll definitely help lift a weight off of your shoulders!! Good for you for deciding that instead of overwhelming yourself.

Thank you for posting this! I think wedding planners/DOCs have a reputation for being an “unnecessary extravagance”. Especially for smaller weddings. And I shared in that thought until I joined this forum and heard so many brides say the best decision they made was to hire a DOC, and how much stress it alleviated from them during their wedding!

Congratulations! I agree. I have a wedding planner and it's been a tremendous help and burden lifting experience.

I'm feeling the same way! We're about 6 months out and we've hired all our vendors, but now I need to figure out all the details. I'm so stressed just thinking about figuring out the flower situation, centerpieces, other little details, gifts, etc. We do have a day of coordinator, but I don't know what she's supposed to do or what I should expect from her. How much was the wedding planner?

We planned our wedding in 5 months and hired a partial planner for our last 12 weeks. Best investment ever. I'm very organized and capable, but had never planned an event with such an opinionated, unwavering co-producer (my now husband). It helps to have a 3rd party just to keep your sanity, or just take a break from decisions! Good for you.

Thats exactly where I was! Ours was $ 1200 to finish out the wedding for march. She gave us a discounted price since a lot of the legwork has been done. We are on the Central Coast of California.

Thank you everyone! The pressure is real with wedding planning. Glad now I get to hopefully enjoy my day without stressing about every little detail of setup and breakdown!

That's not bad! Was that in place of a DOC? My DOC was $695 (I'm in the DC area), but I think they only handle stuff up to a month before, so by then I should have all the details taken care of for the most part.
