Rains of Castamere

CL, on March 6, 2017 at 10:23 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 12

Game of Thrones is coming back on soon... finally... and it has me thinking of including the Rains of Castamere in my wedding. Temped to do a GOT themed wedding, but I want to have a semi-normal wedding that people will feel comfortable attending and not *cringe* at and bash afterward. The LOTR themed wedding that someone mentioned made me get on Pinterest and a GOT wedding seems so cool! Who else is putting references from their favorite shows/ movies in their wedding?

This is in incredibly bad taste.

Well like I said I'm not going to do it... for people who have "incredibly" strong and judgmental opinions like that and stick their nose up in the air afterward. What I asked was: are any of you putting reference to your favorite movies/ shows in your weddings? That was the question and I'm sticking to it. Lol and @glitter bomb, no it won't be a red wedding.

I am not, but if I went to a wedding that had the Rains of Castamere play, I would laugh (in a good way). GOT is my favorite show and any references included in someone's wedding would make me smile.

I played Rains of Castamere in the middle of my dinner reception. We thought it was funny.

My friend had a subtle nerdy reception. The tables at the reception were numbered based on movies they both liked. The table I sat at, with all of their college friends was table 50. On the back of a little card on the table it said, "50 points to Griffindor for outstanding friendship"

I think incorporating little things that the bride/groom loves gives the wedding/reception personality and makes them memorable. :-)

Little references to our favorite movies and shows. I think the music during cocktail hour will be theme songs from our favorite movies/shows. Probably going to walk down the aisle to "Harry in the Winter" and have little things here and there for our love of Disney and many others. Just trying to figure out how to include Jurassic Park without getting tacky/birthday partyish.

We actually considered making our entrance to that! Then realized all of 4 people would get the reference so dropped it. We are still having tiny elements of our favorites at the reception. Like our cake is lego themed for the first movie we saw together, etc.

Jessica H- that is so unique.. I love it! @bee I can relate... nobody at our reception would get the references to GOT. Only a few people I know even watch the show.

We aren't having a nerdy wedding at all - except the rains of castamere will be our first dance (instrumental only)
