Rain......

Dj Tanner, on May 28, 2021 at 8:33 AM Posted in Planning 0 20
How many brides are worried about rain on their wedding day? My wedding is a week away and I have to say this is probably the least of my concerns. My wedding is an outdoor wedding, but cocktail hour is indoor and the tent is fully floored and has sides if it rains. I actually think rain might make the day look even more romantic. Don’t get me wrong I would love sun, but I’m OK without it too. Are there any brides on here that are worried about rain?? Is there anything that you plan to bring/prepare for rain if you’re an outdoor wedding like umbrellas for guests??

We had a storm blow up toward the end of the reception (outdoor). People left a little earlier than they might have (particularly those with kids), but as long as you have somewhere people can be to stay dry it's not a big deal. My brother and sister-in-law had to move their whole event indoors due to Tropical Storm Debby - but they took some great outdoor photos with one of those see-through umbrellas.

I selected my venue for their outdoor and indoor ceremony spaces. That way if it rained I’d be happy with either option and not stress about a backup plan.

My venue had a covered area for the ceremony, and the rest of the event (cocktail hour, reception) was indoors. However, I did have 2 main concerns about potential rain: 1) pictures, of course; and 2) a blowing storm that would impact the ceremony, and possibly keep our violinist and cellist from playing.

In preparation, I did buy umbrellas for the wedding party, but not the guests. Fortunately, it ended up being a beautiful day and didn't rain until 10 pm -- and since we didn't open the umbrellas or use them, I was able to send them back to Amazon for a full refund.

I'm getting married around halloween in the midwest - the weather can be notoriously bad around there (it snowed on Halloween 2 years ago and could be nasty and cold) - I hope to get married outside, I'll be pretty disappointed if we can't - if we have to move inside we can get married where cocktail hour will be - but I hope it turns out to be a nice day.

We have a fully floored tent with rain sides that can go on. Honestly, if you think about it yes of course son is ideal, but imagine having a bunch of candles all throughout the tent and on the tables while it’s a little dark skies for the day. I’ll pray that there’s sun on your wedding day, but trust me, I feel like there’s so much worse that could happen. If I were you I wouldn’t stress too hard about it, just make sure that you have a proper set up and a back up plan and you’ll be good

We were only mildly concerned about rain but good thing we chose a venue with covered outdoor options for the ceremony! The day of our wedding: RAIN. 🌧 Rain actually makes for stunning photos (lighting, no squinty eyes). It only drizzled during first look so we braved it for photos.

STUNNING! And yes I agree! My fiancé said the same thing too about how photos and video are going to look great if there’s not bright bright sun.

Congrats!! It’s funny because I never (never) wanted to get married outside, simply to avoid dealing with weather (heat, rain, wind, etc). . So our original destination wedding (Las Vegas) was planned with an indoor ceremony and indoor reception. But with the recent change to get married locally (San Diego) we’re having the ceremony on the beach and a rooftop reception at the hotel that’s right behind. I love everything about our new location and I’m not thinking about weather right now because it’s pretty nice year-round in San Diego. Our wedding is in October, when we usually get a day or two of rain. So my prayer is that our wedding does not fall on the one day it decides to rain. If so, we’ll have to move inside the hotel. So I’m hoping to avoid that because it’ll take away from the entire vibe. But, at the same time, after a nearly 3-year engagement (due to postponing a year) I’ll get married anywhere. Just get me to the honeymoon already!!!

Ugh GIRL YESSS! I know what you mean about the honeymoon! I am so ready for this wedding day to be here so we can start planning/preparing for our honeymoon! This whole planning process has been such an emotional roller coaster of ups and downs and restrictions etc. and now finally that there is light at the end of the tunnel as far as restrictions go and the wedding day is going to be perfect, I’m so excited for it, but I’m ready for the whole wedding planning thing to be over! I can’t wait to start really getting into the nitty-gritty of planning for Disney!

Well we’re splitting up our dates. We wanted to go outside the country, but with Covid we were worried about being able to get back home God for bid we caught Covid overseas etc. So we decided to go beginning of September Disney and universal to avoid the crowds, and then we’re going back to Disney in November and then driving to Key West for the week after.

I’m a little nervous about rain because I feel like more guests will decide not to come but, my venue has 2 indoor spaces & 1 outdoor space for the ceremony so if anything happens we’ll have a few options for a backup plan.

THANK YOU! The rain also added a magical element to our day. But since you’re having an outdoor event, glad there’s no rain in your weather forecast. 💃

I am worried about freezing rain or snow on the day of the wedding. We are getting married in late February. Most of our guests are driving from surrounding areas and might decide not to risk it if the roads are going to be bad. Even the local guests, who only have a 20 minute drive, have to go over a mountain to get to the venue and might not come.

If it rains or snows it will be okay, in the end. Our wedding is 100% indoor already so it won't be "rained out". Our families, officiant, and bridal party will already be staying near the venue so the wedding will still be able to happen, it will just be a LOT smaller.
I actually LOVE the rain but my FH HATES it (and snow, too). Poor guy would be really bummed if it rains or snows on our wedding day. That's the biggest reason I am hoping it doesn't. 🌧❄

We originally had a Caribbean cruise planned for our October 2020 honeymoon. But that was canceled, of course! So, we recently rescheduled the honeymoon to Hawaii (Oahu) and will to spend a week out there. We’re leaving on 10/31, the morning after the wedding. So, for fun, we’re going to wear corny “bride” and “groom” T-shirts as our Halloween costumes while we walk around the island that night!
