Rain forecasted for wedding day! Help!!

Audrey, on April 4, 2018 at 12:38 AM

I did so much research and planning for our desert town to pick our wedding date and now it’s a 90% chance of rain. For an entirely outdoor wedding 😭 Getting married this Saturday and I’m having my first major freak out. Can anyone please help calm these nerves?! Anything at all will help at this...

If the tent only has 3 sides, what if it rains into the tent? I mean outdoor shoes can still get ruined/gross when the ground is wet/muddy.

It will be an issue because the ground will be muddy.
can you see if any indoor halls have availability with this short notice?
Keep in mind the advice here is also so people who are considering a backyard wedding keep stuff like this in mind. You should always have a backup plan.

I would recommend trying to rent a floor ASAP and getting a fourth side for the tent. Also, can you have the ceremony under the tent with everyone seated at their tables? Maybe after dinner you can clear out some tables to make room for the dance floor to be under the tent. Or rent a second large tent. It's going to cost money either way, but that's the risk you took without an outdoor wedding without an indoor backup plan.

If I were a guest, I would also assume there is an indoor backup plan and not take it upon myself to plan for standing in the mud. The ground will soak even under the tent even when rain isn’t directly falling on it.

Your wedding photos will be 100% better on an overcast day, because it'll give the photographer way more control with editing. So there's a silver lining.

Drunk me ruined my favorite pair of shoes at a tailgate under a tent when it was pouring rain. I was so upset the next day. Please invest in a floor if you can't find an indoor backup. Your guests will appreciate it.

This! They sell the umbrellas on Amazon! I have them saved in my shopping list for my April 2019 wedding! I'd get them to be prepared just in case
