What looks best with a formal wedding gown?
Long veil
Elbow veil
Shoulder veil
Birdcage
No veil

I’d love to hear your opinions as well as opinions from your grooms. We don’t get to hear from the guys as often.

I think it depends on the gown! I love all of those depending on the gown itself. I loved my fingertip veil and wore it the whole time! My husband said cathedral or fingertip. Smiley smile

I had a super long cathedral length veil. I love veils! I think they are stunning. Mine didn't go over my face, just clipped into my hair. I wore it for the ceremony and pictures and took it off for the reception. My fiance agrees, he's a veil fan!

He said no veil, because he wanted to see my face. I say birdcage veil.

Looks best, probably elbow or long depending on the dress, but for me personally, no veil because I tried one on and absolutely despised it.

My FH says he doesn’t know or care, as he knows nothing about dresses, veils, or fashion.

My dress is very formal - mermaid with tons of beading and a big tulle skirt. I didn't ask my FH, I don't think he would look at me walking down the aisle and think "aww I wish she had a shorter veil". I also already bought my veil so I feel like I don't want to know his answer in case it's different from what I bought lol! I bought a cathedral length veil. It has a blusher so it will be covering my face as I walk but will stop around my bouquet area. My dad will put it back and kiss me as he hands me hand me over. It's how I've always pictured it. (BTW I took a huuuuge risk and ordered a $25 veil from JJs House and it is the most BEAUTIFUL veil. It has no details, just plain tulle, so soft and dainty)

I think this depends on yourself and the gown. I opted no veil because in general I just didn't look good with one on aha.

I think it really depends on the dress and the bride, there's no one right answer! My personal opinion for myself, and what I did for my wedding day, was no veil because I didn't like them on me. They look beautiful on others! Birdcages look especially great with vintage style dresses. My husband wouldn't have cared if I wore a veil, but I think he liked that I didn't.

It depends on the dress. Personally I think a long veil or a birdcage. My FH says birdcage. Ironically this is a slight topic at my house currently. I was planning on a birdcage since our theme is 1930s but my mom is envisioning a long veil. Either would go with the style of dress but not really sure I want a long veil.

It really depends on what the dress looks like. I had a cathedral length veil and could only tolerate it for a very short time. It’s important to be comfortable with what you wear. Try a few out with your gown. If you find a style you like but maybe the in store veils are outside of your price range try Etsy or Amazon.

Thank you so much! It rained from about 2 PM - 6:30 PM on our wedding day. So we had to move our ceremony & cocktail hour inside!

My husband didn't really care, he just didn't want my face to be hidden. I went with a veil just for pictures, but didn't wear it otherwise - a little too traditional for our wedding.

Personally, I love a plain / raw-edged floor length veil; with that being said, it really does depend on the dress! Usually I would associate longer veils with formal gowns, though.

“Really long one”, and I agree for a very formal ballgown with heavy beading, ect, a cathedral length looks best with it. It depends on the design of the formal gown and how ornate it is.
