I’m young and trying to plan my wedding myself. What questions should I be ask vendor so I know I’m getting what I paid for?

Which vendors are you curious about? I am planning our wedding myself too.

If you google "what questions to ask caterer (or DJ, venue, etc.)" you will get some great lists! WW has some they've posted as well! I purchased a wedding planning book (by The Knot, on Amazon for 20 bucks) that had lists of questions and checklists for each vendor, which was super helpful!

Whatever you do, make sure you get a contract so that you can reference later if you need to or any problems arise.

Ask vendors how many hours they will be serving for. Photographers have hourly packages a lot of times.

Also, my favorite thing to do after speaking to a vendor for a little bit is ask if the have a cash discount. 2/3 times they say yes and knock off like 20% of their estimate!

Do as much via email as you can so it's written down. Always have a contract and read it before signing

I’m planning mine by myself also, I’d say ask every single question you can think of even if it seems silly and make sure you get some type of contract. I’d also suggest looking into a day of coordinator if you haven’t, some times they help point you in the right direction during the process. Congrats and best of luck in planning!!!

Agree. Get everything in writing--and read it. One of the venues we were looking at verbally told us there was no cake cutting cost, but is says there is in the contract. I asked it to be removed and they complied. Pinterest also has some great questions to ask

I got the book "The Budget Savvy Bride" by Jessica Bishop on Amazon! It's a big wedding planning book with tons of questions and charts and lots of advice! I've used mine a bunch and it was inexpensive!

You'll come up with even more questions along the planning process aha. I remember coming up with so many after I asked more.

For venues definitely ask what their fees are. Make sure you're aware of everything such as if they have a cake cutting fee
