Questions to Ask when deciding on a seamstress?

CoffeeNColor, on May 9, 2017 at 3:28 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 2

I have 2 referrals for wedding dress alterations. One was recommended by my bridal boutique and one was recommended by my friend.

What are questions I should ask to figure out who's the best for me? Are there ways to get a preliminary quote or price range, or do I have to take it in to get a quote?

Should I have all my potential undergarments before the first appointment? I haven't decided if I want to add a petticoat/A-Line slip. I have to get my new spanx, and possibly a low back bra if cups can't be sewn in. I'm worried about buying things I won't end up needing.

How did you know if your seamstress was right for you?

Following, I'm meeting with a seamstress for a consultation about altering & redesigning my vintage wedding dress on Friday!

Can you look at online reviews for both places? You might be able to get a price estimate but I think you'd have to go in with the dress for them to give you a quote!

Yes - you should have all of your undergarments (and shoes) for the 1st appointment! The undergarments will affect how your dress fits and how they proceed with alterations.
