Questions about my dinner situation

Kaycee Rae, on October 5, 2019 at 2:11 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 13

For my wedding we are having everyone meet at a small local restaurant for dinner. Keep in mind my wedding is small like only 18 people. This is a public place we won't have the restaurant to ourselves. Do I have our photographer come there and take pictures? I feel a little weird with a photographer all around us in a public restaurant but at the same time I feel like I'm missing out on some pictures I may want later..

what do you all think?

If you want pictures, I wouldn’t worry about what anyone else thinks. If anything, the fact that you’re in a wedding dress will already draw attention.

That's true I didn't think about that lol. I guess it will obviously be a wedding party with everyone all dressed up.

We’re doing the same thing and would have had a photographer there if we could have afforded it. People are going to gawk anyway.

If you'd like photos at the dinner, go ahead and have the photographer there! I don't think it'll be too much for other people around in the restaurant

Yes we are doing the same - our dinner is at a restaurant too, 13 of us. I will have my photographer there off to the side to get non posed photos. I think they are the best.

Please speak with the management of the restaurant regarding having a photographer snapping pictures during dinner in a public space. It may be perfectly fine - but you are a guest in their space and a professional photographer wandering your table snapping picture is different than someone standing up with their phone and taking a group shot.

There are other people who will be dining there, maybe celebrating a special occasion of their own. You don't want your photographer to intrude on their celebration..or interrupt the flow of service to other tables while trays of dinners to other diners are being delivered. Also, believe it or not, people who are not a part of your party may object to being in the background of your photographs.

It may be your wedding, but you haven't paid for a private space. Please consider how your party may affect others and respect management's desires for their business.

I agree! If you want pictures, you can afford it, and it's okay with the owner, then go for it! And enjoy your day!

I think if you speak with management they may be able to reserve a section for you all to dine. That way they can accommodate you better without disrupting the other diners at the restaurant.

Yeah.... I’d see if they can put you against a wall somewhere. As happy as I’d be for the couple, I’d hate to be caught in the background of their photos
