Questions about bridal party proposals

Sam, on March 29, 2022 at 3:23 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 2

Hello everyone! I'm new to this forum/discussion part of the website so please be patient with me!

I have seen people give gifts to their bridal party, somewhere along the lines of "will you be my bridesmaid?" and so on. I originally had this planned for my "best woman" as well family members that are participating in the ceremony. However, my "best woman" is unable to attend because she is expecting a baby during the time of my wedding. I am sending out invitations soon and out of the formality, we are still sending out invitations to those we know that most likely won't be able to attend. My question is, do I still send the gift to my "best woman" even though I know she won't be able to come? I'm not familiar with wedding etiquette so I'm hoping you guys can give me some advice! Also, we are trying to set up a way to livestream the ceremony for those who are unable to be in person.

Thank you in advance.

-Sam

I think it would be very sweet to send your best woman a gift. Especially if you know she would have come if the circumstances were different!
    However, you don't 'have' to.

I would still give the gift to her, especially if you have a livestream. You don't have to, though. Proposal gifts are optional anyway. Maybe you could even include her in the ceremony by having her read something via a video chat?
