My FH and his party will be wearing brown shoes with grey suits

I personally choose black shoes for that. It looks good with everything!

FH’s suit is more of a slate grey(slight blue tint but definitely grey) and his shoes are black because that’s what he wanted.
I think brown or black can work.

At the first appointment they all wanted grey suits with plum vest and tie with brown shoes. After trying it on, the brown was too much and they voted for black shoes instead. They said they felt like there were just too many colors going on.

My FH and the guys are wearing this. The burgundy will be the color of the tie with a grey vest. We are having an outdoor rustic wedding so brown fit better for us.

Our guys will have charcoal grey suits, and wear black shoes. I think brown would look ok, but we don't want them to have to buy a pair of shoes just for the wedding, and matching brown shoes seems a lot harder than matching black, which they likely already own.

I think because you said purple and no jacket that black would be a better option instead of brown. I think brown and gray only goes with certain accent colors.
