Question for the Tall Brides (5'10" or taller please)

Lauren, on July 2, 2016 at 10:23 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 22

Hi there! I'm a 6 foot bride on a budget and am starting to look for a dress. My concern is that I'll fall in love with a dress and (like always) it'll be too short. Any tips or designers/stores that have option for leggy ladies? The standard go up a size won't work. I'm also very slender with no curves. I live in Milwaukee but am from Chicago so preferably options available in those areas) thanks for any help you can give me!

Almost every design can have extra length added! I'm 5'8/5'9 and if I was wearing any sort of heels I would have needed extra length added. I'm wearing sandals so I don't .

I'm 5'9 1/2 and actually needed mine hemmed! I couldn't believe it.. Never had anything hemmed in my life. I'm also wearing flats on my wedding day though.

I'm 5'10 and my dress was allure bridals but all dresses I tried on were fine. In wearing flats and my dress needs a small hem in the front. I would say you shouldn't need to to order an extra long dress

I'm pushing 5'11 and I tried on dresses at a local bridal salon (in Atlanta) and had no problems with length. I ended up getting a size 10 Allure dress that doesn't need to be hemmed if I wear two inch (or so) heels. They gave me the option of ordering extra fabric if I needed more height also, so I think you'll be fine!

I'm not tall, actually the opposite but when you try on dresses ask for only dresses that extra length can be added if needed. PP are right though... I'm 5'2" and was 5'4" in my heels and still had 10 inches hemmed off the bottom so dresses seem to be Long.

I'm a little over 5'9. I went to two bridal salons and didn't have any issues. In fact, almost all of the dresses were too long. I had such a great experience at Bella Bianca in River North Chicago. They have a great selection of designers like Hayley Paige, Lazaro, and Alvina Valenta. A little pricey, but they usually have good trunk show deals.

I bought my dress in E. Dundee- its a sincerity bridal dress and i ordered it long - i wanted to wear heals but than I shattered my foot and ankle and will be wearing sneakers. It is plenty long i will need it taken up because its soo long- i think i would have even in heals.

    I am 5'11''

I'm only 5'8-5'9 but when I went shopping, they told me that was the "ideal" height for wedding dresses and that's what the standard was. I ordered the middle length of dress and there was many longer ones. Like 6 inches longer. Most places I looked had this too. Hopefully it won't be an issue for you. Good luck!

I'm from Milwaukee too! And at 6'2 I was worried about length too. Most of the bridal dresses are made super long so all of them I tried on we're long enough for me. Mine is perfect length and I didn't have to hem it at all which saved money. I went to Eva's bridal in oak creek and they had tons of options.

I'm almost 6 foot tall. Everything I tried on at David's Bridal had enough length to cover my legs and then some-even with heels on. I loved everything in their Vera Wang collection too and those dresses seemed to have extra length as well without alterations needed. Try on a cocktail length dress if you are feeling daring-with my legs being so long I fell in love with one unexpectedly and surprised myself!

I am 5'11 and every dress that was long length was too long on me or touched the tops of my feet. I had a concern of it being too long after the first round of trying on dresses. You can always add length.

I'm 5'11 and had to order my dress with extra length even with wearing flats. I was told by my consultant that it depends on the style of dress whether or not more length is needed.

I'm 6 feet and didn't have any issue. In fact, I had mine hemmed. I was wearing flats, though.

I'm 5'9" barefoot. I'm actually having 2" hemmed off my dress, and I bought regular length. David's Bridal has dresses available in extra length, which adds 4" of fabric at the bottom. If you talk to your consultant about your concern at the beginning of the appointment, she should be able to pull dresses that are available long. But you may get lucky and have a regular length dress work!

I'm 5'9 and 3/4 so super close to 5'10 and the length won't have to be altered because it's practically perfect on me when I have boots on (yes I'm one of those brides wearing cowboy boots) I know David's bridal has dresses with extra length and other designers might be able to order dresses in extra length as well.

I'm 5'11" and nothing I tried on was too short. And we save money on hemming! I have a 36" inseam too so I'm all legs.

I'm 6' as well and have a Maggie Sottero dress. I had the same fear! I was able to add 3" to my dress. I'll be honest - it did limit me in heel height, but that's fine. I'm doing 3" heel with my dress and it's just about perfect, definitely won't be getting anything hemmed!
